Check your brake lights. There are safety switches on the brake pedal lever or the clutch lever to prevent starting without your foot on the pedal. Often a Drivers' feet hit the switch and dislodge or break it.

SOURCE: 1998 honda accord problem

Lets hope the timing belt didn't break! If it turns over very fast and kind of sounds like a sewing machine, this is probably the problem. If it is, big repair bill! If it cranks over and sounds like a normal engine that just isn't starting, there are a number of possibilities. Start by checking for spark. Get a spare spark plug and insert it into one of the plug leads and hold the threaded portion of the plug on a good ground. Have someone crank the engine over while you watch for spark. No spark means you have to check the entire ignition system. If you have spark, then you probably have a fuel problem, you can crack a line at the filter to see if fuel comes out when the engine cranks. No fuel means you may have a bad pump. If you do have fuel at the filter, you can use a stethoscope to listen to the fuel injectors, to make sure they are clicking when the engine is being cranked over. No clicking could mean a computer problem.

How much do you want to spend on it? Shaking and burning are 2 most important problems.

Years ago cars did not have turn signals and you used hand signals. But if you live in a State requiring vehicle inspections you have no choice but to get this repaired.

Most Front-end alignment shops will inspect your car free or for a low fee. It does take physical effort to do a really good job of inspecting for what is wrong. Then get a price or get it fixed.

Burned out taillight will cause flashers to rapidly work. Smoke, not good. With battery disconnected you would need to access turn signal stalk and probably replace or check for burnt wire loom. Salvage yards were made for this.

Explorers were common vehicles. You could get some money out of it by selling drivetrain or sheet metal parts.

Find out why vehicle is shaking.

1998 Ford Explorer Where is the rear windshieldwasher fluid resivior located?

The rear windshield washer fluid for the rear window uses the same as the front. if it is like a '99 Explorer, it has one pump that has reversing current controlled by two relays . Access the relay box by removing air cleaner top and hose near right front corner. The front and rear washer relays are the two near the rear of the box. One of the two is sticking or has corroded terminals. You can use the horn or a/c relay from the relay and fuse box near the battery.Good luck and hope this helps.

1998 ford explorer eddie b, key will turn car won't start

Check to see if the battery cables are tight. Or, check to see if your terminals might have some corrosion around them. If it's not either, than it might be the battery needing to be replaced. And, if that isn't it, try your local auto shop and ask them.

Ford Explorer XLT does not start

have the battery tested, u are not describing a lack of fuel problem, u either have a defective battery or a corroded positive battery cable, that is very comm on on your year and model, I am a Ford dealer tech so I know what is going on with these explorers, it is seldom a fuel pump concern, the slow or no crank is the key factor here.
