should of mentioned the brand
coils do go bad but if you've only used it once, is it under warranty ???

Type toro.com and the model of your mower they have schematics that will help you.

check the cable check that the small spring has not broken from the carby to the governor leaver.

Seems like a resistor or wire leading to the ignition coil may be at fault.

There's a primary and secondary coil in an ignition coil. And, if the coil isn't getting power, then there's no way for the secondary coil to deliver the spark to the spark plugs.

You may want to take it to an auto electric shop if you have trouble tracing why the wire doesn't have power at the primary coils of the ignition coil.

You might want to check the coil after the engine has wormed up to see if it is breaking down and not fireing the spark plugs. Use an in line spark tester to check between the coil and the spark plug wires to see if it is firing the plugs after the engine has gotten worm. Have someone to turn the engine over while you watch the tester for fire. Hope this will help you.

Check the gas and gas tank, you might have water in the gas.
