SOURCE: Setting clock on Westinghouse WST3501 microwave oven

Normally you would press Clock, enter the desired numbers, then hit Clock or Start. Try it with door open and with door closed.

Otherwise, contact Westinghouse Small Kitchen Appliances at 800-947-3745 or see http://www.saltoninc.com/contact/contact.html

We had this problem. It was installed improperly - to recirculate instead of to vent.

Is it possible that some spray cleaner accidentally got into the controls?

Direct spraying of cleaners on the keypad and steam from the cooktop can damage the controls.

I always recommend that users spray the cleaner on a soft cloth (not on the keypad itself) then wipe the control panel off.

Also, I always recommend non-ammonia cleaners since ammonia can crack and damage plastic.

SOURCE: Westinghouse microwave WST3502..... Problem:

Press "Clock", type in the time on the keypad and then press "Start". The clock runs a little slow (at least on mine) and I have to reset it about once a month. It gets about 10 - 15 minutes behind after awhile.

SOURCE: No display on LCD panel on my whirlpool microwave

I do not know what procedure you used to replace the door, but if the buttons and display were working fine before you replaced the door then it seems that there is a plug not plugged into the control display panel. Other than that the low voltage power supply may not be providing the needed voltage for the display and only for the logic circuits which are a different voltage. With the microwave unplugged, take the cover off and look at all the connectors and make sure that they are plugged into something and none that are not plugged in. They should all go somewhere. To answer your original question, there is only one main fuse to the microwave. The circuitry in the control panel operates on low voltages +/- 5 volts or +/-12v so that part is not fused. What I recommend also is to go back mentally through the procedure you used to replace the door and that may give you a clue as to what you unplugged, although you should not have to unplug anything.

When I start my Frigidaire FGMV174KFB microwave oven it shuts completely off and after about a minute it comes back on and does a factory reset. Any suggestions on what I should do to fix?

I appreciate your inquiry, David!

From the information you have provided your Frigidaire microwave shuts off and then will factory restart. It sounds like a possible problem with your control panel or a faulty wiring harness. I would recommend seeking assistance from a professional. They would need to properly disassemble your microwave and test each electrical component to pinpoint the problem within it. The technician has the appropriate tools needed to complete the repair without causing personal injury or any future issues with the microwave. Best of luck! -Matt

Microwave will not run a cook cycle. Touchpad functions until door is opened or start button is pressed. When door is opened display goes dark. When door shuts display lights all characters and then says...

BEFORE DOING ANYTHING DISCONNECT OVEN FROM POWER. I do NOT recommend doing repair by yourself, if you NOT are really very familiar with electric repair, or have at least basic training in electric device repair and maintenance.
"When door is opened display goes dark. When door shuts display lights all characters and then says "touch clock"."
Obviously, by opening door, oven gets disconnected form power line.
This is mostly caused by loose connections on wiring socket, and can be anywhere inside. Check security micro switch on door latch. This switch normally disables only running the oven when door is open, for security reasons. In your case, it seems that opening door disconnects oven from input power. Sometimes the switch is loose, or wires are not firmly pushed in the socket. If the power line wiring is loose, and by opening door looses contact with socket, it can touch metal housing inside, cause short, electric shock, serious even mortal injury and fire. This is dangerous high voltage switch, and to access it one must open oven from the back and take off the cover. I do not recommend doing it by your self.
Rem: Replacement micro switch is couple dollars.

There is a continuous beep from the control panel and most pad buttons do not work. The only way for me to stop the beeping, is for me to shut off the power at the main electric box

This indicates a short in the pad membrane, or a control board issue. Depending on the nature of the repair the cost may exceed a new microwave oven, before you commit to any repairs I recommend an estimate first so you have the choice to proceed.

GE model J KP85B0A3BB over range will not heat up. Both control panels for microwave and range work, interior light comes on when door opens, and glass plate will turn...

The most likely problem is the magnetron, it works with the high voltage capacitor and diode which can be a factor. The three work together to generate the high voltage that heats the food. If the repairs are done by a professional the cost will be high when you consider parts and labor.

Vent fan turns on if you open the door or if you turn on the light. Do I need a control panel?

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

no you can have many different issues, other than a control panel. and other than that i must give you this warning, and good luck

Microwaves must be serviced by technicians due to the inherent dangers involved in repairing these appliances. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even though the unit is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any internal component repair.

Mircowave does not seem to heat anything any more, does it need a fuse, or larger part replaced? model jvm 1440aa001. Thanks for your help

There are several reasons the oven can stop heating. The most common is failure of the magnetron tube, which generates the microwaves. If you've been noticing longer cooking times, unusual humming noises or an electrical odor, these are signs of a magnetron nearing the end of life. When they finally fail, it's one of two ways. They open electrically like a fuse blowing, so that everything seems like it's working but there's no heat, like you describe. Or they can short-circuit, which causes a very loud humming or groaning noise and no heating, and may cause the main power fuse to blow so that the oven goes completely dead.

Unfortunately, the magnetron is about the most expensive part in the oven. So while it could be replaced, it's usually not economical. Between the cost of parts and labor (this kind of repair is best left to professionals because of safety concerns), it may only be a little more money to buy a new oven. In some cases, repair may even cost more than a new one.

There are other possible causes. There may be bad connections that have developed or something has gone wrong on the control circuit board. Other parts in the power supply for the magnetron may have failed. If you want to keep this oven, see what the cost is for a professional to check it over and give a repair estimate. It may turn out to be worth fixing. But if the magnetron is bad, it's probably time for a new oven.

Sorry I can't be more positive, but thanks for using Fixya!

66993 pizza oven microwave oven combo pizza oven not heating error code f1 microwave part works

Hello, please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacement of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes – 362 Series (General Electric)
F1 = Stuck Touch Pad Key - Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 911 Series (General Electric/Roper)
F0-F1-FF = Failed transistor in Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes- 665 Series (Whirlpool)
F1-E0 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E1 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E2 U/L ERC Errors - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E3 Fuel Type Fail

Kill power 30 seconds-Cancel-Start/Enter-5 seconds-Should see “E” for electric-
“9” for gas-If code changes again-replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 790 Series Electronic Oven Control (Frigidaire)
F1 = Shorted Touch Pad = Electronic Range Control (EOC) Internal check sum error.
Runaway Temp = Replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kill power 30 seconds - if error returns - replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Microwave not making any sound, or heating. control panel works!

This microwave probably has a serious electrical problem...a defective magnetron or rectifier. It should probably be checked by someone who is familiar with electrical repairs...there can be high voltage inside and a danger of electric shock, even when the oven is off.
