Nikon l610 wont turn on

A quick look at the manual, which found here:

confirmed my suspicions that your memory card, being brand new, needs to be formatted by the camera.
If you download the manual, then the instructions are on page 16.
The manual is in pdf format so can be saved for future reference.

did you try to plug it into another port than the defective one?
sometimes windows loose the control of one port and by changing it recognizes again on new port....
you may also have hardware drivers problems, take a look at the hardware properties to see if there is not a small yellow triangle on some hardware, it can be the source of the problem, search for updated drivers and restart.
or go to nikon's site, search for last driver for your model, and install it, this must solve the problem...

If your batteries are okay (try charging them overnight) it sounds like you'll have to send the camera in for service. Call Nikon Coolpix support at 1-800-645-6687

Take battery out of camera to turn off and then reinstall battery and see after fully charging battery if it will work now. Rich

Try another battery. Even though you bought a new battery and charged it doesn't mean it is not bad.

Make sure you have either a fully charged batteries or a new batteries.
Could be some internal problems such as loose connections.
Camera sounds like it needs repair. Repair for this camera, due to age may be beyond what you would want to spend.
