Black absorbs all color wavelengths. This is why the color black is described as having no color. This also means that a black object must turn the absorbed light into energy. Black absorbs the most light of any color and creates the most heat. As such, it is wise to avoid black clothing on sunny days, not because it attracts heat, but because it absorbs light that is then turned into heat.

No. Black will be much warmer than white or a light colour. Black absorbs heat, white reflects it, so it is much cooler to wear white in the sun.

Should I buy baseball cleats with a high top or is it better for them to be low cut?

If you ask me, it is better to get the one with a high top. This is because your ankles will be protected better since most baseball players don't wear shin guards. This will also provide better support for your ankles and help prevent sprain.

How is active wear different than regular clothing?

Activewear is designed to suit the needs of active people. The clothing is light weight so it won't hinder the movement of the athlete. It also addresses thermal insulation. Some athletes need to keep cool while others kept warm. Moiosture-wicking fabrics are also important to move sweat away from the body in order for it to evaporate. For example, spandex is used to get rid of sweat.

Which sunglasses do you suggest I wear for when I play softball in the middle of the day?

I have Oakley glasses with iridium lenses that I absolutely love. They completely protect my eyes and they don't hurt after a long day in the sun. Oakley make a lot of different frames for iridium glasses but really anything iridium is fine.

How can I know which sungalsses will fit each type of sport activity?

In tennis, softball and baseball, tinted lenses can help you see the rotation of the ball more clearly so you can make better contact with your racquet or bat.
For biking, sunglasses with the appropriate lenses may help you see better down the road or trail for a safer ride, especially when traveling downhill at high speeds.

I have a Nikon s550 that I cannot get it to zoom in very well. I would like to be able to zoom in close on my daughter as she plays softball.

Your camera has a 5X zoom which is not great at getting real close to players on a softball field. The new "super-zoom" cameras are better suited for that. You could try to move closer to her for better results.
