My oven got extremly hot, beeped & cut of and showed F9

may be a stuck relay on board or bad oven sensor.

Which manufacturer built your oven? The F2 error usually means that the oven temperature sensor is claiming the oven is too hot (or got too hot in the past). This usually requires replacing the temperature sensor. Sometimes, the control unit (clock) needs to be replaced.

Shut off the circuit breaker to it for FIVE minutes, then back on. If the problem persists then do the following:

A latch locks the center top INSIDE of the door during cleaning.
Run a piece of semi-stiff, flat object, like a cardboard strip that is in L shape behind the top lip of the door from RIGHT TO LEFT. You may need to push it along with your finger jambed in there when it reaches the latch. With a little push the latch should open.

Try to run the oven, if F9 shows again, press cancel Oven to quiet it. The Lock state is still in place. Move the latch hook manually all the way to RIGHT. Then shut off the circuit breaker for FIVE minutes, then back on. The oven should work ok.

If this fails again try the five minute shut off with the latch in other starting positions.

If none of these work then the latch mechanism, or it's motor is really broken. Replace or ditch and never buy Amana again!

Thanks for using FixYa. F9 error in your oven/range indicates an issue with the door locks assembly and/or the door latch. To start with check the door lock circuit, you can also try to jump start it to see if it's working. If it's not working then the Electronic Range control has gone bad and should be replaced, if it is working then the door lock circuit should be replaced. If this is an Electrolux oven then F9 relates to micro-processor resets itself.To get this to reset fully its reccomended that you disconnect the unit from the electric supply and then reconnect then retry.

Hard wiring is O.K. and really better because you don't have to fool with the plug and the loss of or poor connection there. You can just turn the power off at the breaker. Without knowing what the F9 error code is, you may have a problem with the board inside the control panel. To get the door open, try to push and hold door closed at the same time. This may loosen the tension on the closer and allow it to open. Pull the lever to open it. If not, try to moderately tap on the door where it latches and it may open then. Next, slide a thin screwdriver into the latch and free it up there. Once the door opens, I believe your oven will work. The oven believes it is in the self clean mode. When you get the door open, turn on the oven with the door open and it should heat. If it does not, check the wiring in the back and you may find that one of the wires has burned off the control switch for the oven. I know this sounds like a lot, but it should save you a tech call and a couple of hundred dollars. Hope this helps.

oven door will not close tight - what is wrong

My oven was locked and would not open. No lock light was on but the oven was clearly locked. F9 error when I hit certain buttons.

Try this. I unplugged the oven for about 5 minutes. Plugged back in. A LOCK light came on. Held down "Oven Cancel" for a few seconds. Door opened and lock light went off. No more F9 error when I hit those buttons.

The F9 error message usually means that the oven temperature is above 600 degrees F. Check that the fan is operating. Make sure that it is not blocked. Make sure the vent areas are not blocked. There could also be a welded relay contact or high resistance in the oven sensor leads or connections.
