your explanation is very confusing. your internet connection must come from a modem either directly or remotely thru router. your mentioning of hidden drive does not make sense. drivers are not part of internet connection. you need to reset the modem and router if you are connecting through it. turn everything off. unplug router and modem. after 15 seconds unplugged, plug only modem in, wait until lights stablize; now plug router power back in, wait for lights to come on;,next turn PC on. Wait until completely booted up. go to control panel click on Network Internet, when opens try to find the local connect to network. if none, then your modem is not receiving signal or IP Address from your internet provider(comcast, centurylink, whoever). check status, if active fine. if active but icon says no internet access then your router is not set correctly. you may have lost its set up and you will have to reset up your router. you should have the step or instructions for doing that. after resetting and network active, restart computer so that is receives fresh settings from router.
if no network is found after restart you may have to reconfigure your internet connect by using the internet connection wizard(control panel).
sounds like you recently upgraded your Pc or software, maybe even just a driver update? If so it will help figure out your problem. Always try to reboot your network(router, modem,pc,laptop)for at least 30 sec, usually its a communication error or a firewall issue that blocks router access, and then again it could be a driver or software compatibility problem. email me with more info if you still need help [email protected]
Disconnect the router, and use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer's network-port directly to the cable-modem (or DSL-modem), and try the "performance" of Internet activity.
well one thing if your router uses the same IP address as your hughes net then they will interfere with each other. hook your router to your pc and leave the hughes modem out of the equation then go to command prompt on your pc and type in ipconfig that will tell you what ip address your router is using that way you can get into the settings of the router and change whatever you need to change.....I would just set it back to default and make sure the ip address is not 192.168.0.1 because that is the dynamic ip for hughes
After you've rebooted your wireless router...make sure you reboot the cable-company (or DSL) modem while the router is connected to it and on. The modem seems to recognize the router properly only in this way.
Simply unplug the power to the cable-modem and plug it in again.
If the cable-modem has a battery back-up you'll want to remove that as well.
a router shouldnt need to dial for a connection, go to open your internet browser and go to tools, then internet options, then click connections tab and select never dial a connection so as to stop internet explorer looking for a modem connection
