My first guess is that It is "frozen." If you turn it off and back on, it probably asks for an "unfreeze" code related to unlocking the phone. If that is the issue, you can try to work with Samsung's support via their live chat. http://www.samsung.com/ae/support/model/SM-T331NZWAXSG

But alternatively, if the device is truly "hung", you can try first a soft reset and if that does not work, a hard reset (which will return the system to the factory defaults reverting it to how it was when it came out of the box. With a hard reset, you lose whatever you did on it after you took it out of the box.

If you do a soft reset and you get some access to the keypad functioning, you might want to uninstall whatever you probably just installed immediately before it froze up. A soft reset retains your data. I would avoid trying the last program you installed again to see if it ran! Steps for Soft Reset:

• Take out the battery.
• Reinsert the battery.
• Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

A hard reset is a last resort, by doing a hard reset you will start all over (pending your skills) you will loose all aps/ data you may have had. Remember the basics on a soft reset you need to hold volume up button and then hold power on button it takes some time for the unit to boot, this is intentional.
