I believe that dish has it's own type of remotes and the remote that you purchased is specifically compatible with your tv and not necessarily the Dish box. This would explain the difference in the code lengths. So, you would need to call dish and ask them what remote's are compatible with Dish. Thank you.

Found universal replacement remote for Viewsonic N2750 at Target for $15. Works perfectly. it's the Sony RM-V310A.
Tried all 5 remotes from Walmart, none worked even though it said would work on back of packaging..Target has about 5 Remotes only this one worked.
My original remote died after 2 years. ordered an original replacement. that one died after 2 years. They're ****.Manufacturer discontinued it. found one online for $50.
Just get the Sony RM-V310A at target.
I had the same problem with sony remot control RM-ED002, take remot control apart and clean inside with damp cloth and dry with kitchen towel, thats it now use it! ;-)
When i opened mine it was some kind of moisture under volume and channel buttons, cleaning and drying it helped.
Had the same problem myself - check the connections at the back of the remote control itself. I recrimped and after cold rebooting everthing, seems to work fine now. Hope this helps.
