Unit is working just fine, other than the screen not displaying anything. The screen is backlit, if I touch anywhere on the screen I'm still changing stations, skipping tracks and changing navigation. I just can't see what I'm doing. I've reset the unit (both by popping off the faceplate and disconnecting the car battery), and I've pressed and held AV/MAP for a few seconds (JVC's tech explained that this should turn the screen on/off).

Hi
If you connect the red and yellow together then attach them it should work, use an inline fuse if it has not already got one, the yellow should be ignition live and the red constant live although on JVC I have seen them the other way around also.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: Remote unit is draining my car battery. Unit
Hi Rog,
I would first ask you, 'What has changed'?
Then, 'Why do you think this unit is the cause'?
Have you had the battery load tested? Not just voltage but it's ability to hold a charge, to provide the necessary power under load conditions.
Try disconnecting the negative terminal overnight. If when you reconnect in the morning, it's dead, the cause is not a drain.
Get back with me

it sounds like you don't have the yellow wire going to a constant power source. the ;yellow wire provides the power for retaining memory.

For the numerical code given, enter it using the am/fm presets buttons. Please note, if you try too many times the radio will lock up for a certain amount of time.

The Radio unit may need a 4-6 digit security code. Locate the owners man and other paperwork, (usually in the leather binder for jags) the radio code is in there along with it. No owners man? Call your local Jag dealer and give the parts dept your V.I.N. # . the parts guys will assist you better and wont pressure you to make an appt for service....
Once you get the the code, turn the ignition to the on position-without the engine running, simply enter the digits using the radio station preset #'s..... as soon as the last digit is entered, you'll hear a "beep" sound, indicating the security is deactivated and ready to go... good luck!

Also, the unit was professionally installed 2 years ago, and has worked without a problem for the past 2 years. This just started 2 weeks ago, all connections to the unit are intact and all the wiring is still insulated.
