You can hear the fuel pump, the spark plugs were changed like a month ago...the fuel filter was changed and i just tried changing the fuel ignition sensor fuse. And than you for the previous advice - I had a friend of a friend change the ignition and that problem went away...My car is still not starting and I am ready to call it quits and get ripped off by the car place in which I bought it from. Try replacing your ignition switch. You may not have enough voltage coming from that. My car read 5 volts before I replaced it abd now it reads 12 volts and starts every time.

your battery or charging system is faulty. Jump start the car and turn on EVERYTHING! Then disconnect the negative side of your battery-if the car doesnt stall or sputter its your battery-if it does its your alternator.

2001 jetta gls turns over but wont start. In the past month the temp light on the dash would come on for approx 10 seconds then would go away. This happened 2-3 times. Over the past two weeks when I would start the car it would turn on, then immediatly turn off, only to turn back on within 1 try. This happened once. Yesterday while taking my son to school the car died, again only to turn back on immediatly with one try. Today I went to start the car and it turned on for 3 seconds then turned back off but this time will not start again. I checked all the fuses (one by one) at the panel inside the car on the drivers side. All were fine. The car turns over fine but will not start. Extremly frustrated...

My 93 ford probe gt wont idle and wont shift outa 2nd gear

Sounds like you need to check your vaccum lines for a leak. This is easy to do. Buy a can on carburator cleaner and with a friends help keep the car running as you spray your vaccum lines with the carburator cleaner one by one. If you have a leak it will **** the cleaner into the lines and cause the vehicle to stall out. Replace the line if this happens and continue checking all lines until all bad lines are replaced.

2001 Xterra - Replaced fuel pump twice and is still not running.

I am no expert, but I just had a similar problem. The car would shake and buck when accelerating. It finally just died and would not start. After sitting for some time, the car would start and run a while, then do the same thing. I thought fuel pump. The dealer diagnosed distributor. After replacing, the car is running perfect. Something to think about. Good luck.

Car wont' start

I don't have a Corsica, I have a 2003 Suburban but I have a similar problem. Every few months or if the car has been sitting for 12 hours and the fuel guage reads less than 1/2 the car will crank and start for a couple of seconds and then die. You can keep trying but it will not run for more than a second or two. If one hits the gas tank bottom then it will start okay. At other times the car will lose power and the engine will struggle to stay running. If that happens you have to turn off the engine and then hit the tank.

We tried replacing the fuel filter to no avail and other fixes would cost a lot more so I live with it and keep the tank at least half full.

One mechanic thought that something in the tank may be coating the fuel screen and the engine had to be shut off to release it. Our other guess is that a fuel line pressure regulator check valve gets stuck and banging the tank breaks it loose.

If your problem is similar then towing the car might have the same effect as hitting the tank. When you drive the car keep an eye on the fuel gauge. My Suburban's changes readings at times. It's possible that your car thinks it's out of fuel and shuts off the pump to protect it. If your engine dies and you are coasting and you can do so safely, hit the brakes hard. That may shake things enough to help.

I've been told I have a fuel pump going bad and that banging it is only a short reprieve but it's done this for 3 years now so I doubt it.
