Go to messaging thru your main menu. Thru messaging scroll to bottom to settings. next go to text auto view click this. If it looks like i believe most menus are it should say on / on plus readout and off. just choose off.

Nokia phones call them "profiles" , a set of preset modes where you can have different volume levels and tones for different occasions i.e General, meeting, loud, silent etc. I was suggesting trying a different preset mode If available to see if it worked for you.
if you register on line at verizonwireless.com you can add a messaging package which will automatically unblock it. i've never heard of it being blocked on phone.
I had this same problem with this phone. The touch screen is messed up. you have to call 1-866-406-5154 its the warranty center they will replace your phone if that one doesnt work they will replace it will a diffrent phone.
If you take it back to Verizon they should give you a new phone - I guess all the older ones do this. I got mine last August and it started around January and then I took it in in March and they had to do a "software" upgrade and it took an hour. That was supposed to fix it but it continued to do the same thing. I took it in again to Verizon and they just replaced my phone. My new one seems to be fine!
