How do I check the transmission fluid on my 2005 land rover freelander?

Hi put car on level ground, start engine run untill the engine is at optimal tempriture apply hand brake then open bonnet then first look for transmition dip stick at the back of engine, once found start car and put gear lever through all the gears about free times then put it back in park, pull the dipstick out wipe it with a cloth (best to use cloth like shirt so there are no peaces of fluff to contaminate t-fluid) thenput it back in the transmition as fare as it can go,pull out and check that the fluid is between the level marks,if rite put dipstick back job done, good luck hope thi was some help

94 toro rider stops when i put in gear or try to engage is it transmition failure?

sounds like a seat safety switch. replace it and see if that fixes it or you can try to bypass the switch and see if that helps too

I have a th 360B Starts fine all hydraulics work,

Check to see if there is a switch that isolates the drive system if the foot brakes are applied. Check that solenoid to engage the torque converter clutch is operational

I press in the clutch but i cant put it in gear wont even move a hair

Well it could be that the Master Sullinoid Cyllinder is not engaging the clutch. More than likely in my experience its not a good sign. if you know a good mechanic, I would suggest having them look at it and see what they recommend.

You dont want to have to get a new transmition and if the fluids in the transmition are low and this pressure plate wont engage, dont chance it.

A new transmition is upwards of $1700.00 just for the transmition.

My is shifting from 2 to drive back to 2 why is it doning that

Check your tranny fluid levels- if they are low your transmition will slip between gears, however if you notice any kind of free reving while its shifting (like being reved up when in park or neutral) then the hydrostatic clutches are slipping and the transmition needs repair.

Another thing you should investigate is your transmition kick down bar (it shifts the trany into a lower gear when accelerating hard to help pick up speed.

My transmition jumps when going to 3rd gear and/or overdrive

This is all to common a post for your van, read it over and over again, there are class action law suits over this transmission having so many failures, if any money has been paid out i can't say, buy u will need to have the trans removed and torn down and overhauled to correct this problem
