I bought a new hampton 52" huntington iii ceiling fan and installed it today. I connected the wires as follows: black/blue-black, white-white and greens-copper. I can't get the light or fan to work. With my last unit, the fan died first and the light died shortly thereafter. Could it be the switch?

I need help wiring my fan. I can't get the fan to work, but I do have the light working. From the ceiling I have a white, black, red and ground wire. How should these wires connect to the White, Black,...

White is your neutral so white goes to white. Blue on the fan is for the light kit you need to wire that to the wire from your switch so it works the lights. Black is the hot wire that is always hot not switched so tie that to the wire that is not on your switch. Green is ground so green to green. white to white / green to green/ black to black/ red to blue/

Light will not shut off on fixture (replacement of ceiling fan)

One of the two cables in the ceiling box is power and the opther is a switch leg .. what you need to do is connect the two black wires together at the ceiling, connect the white power wire to the white fixture wire ,.,. connect the white switch wire to the black fixture wire .. put some black tape on that white to make it legal .

Wiring a fan with two seperate switches

I am assuming that you have two 3way switches controlling this fan/light .. if there are more switches , then stop here and get back to me

connect the house wires red to red and black to black , then a house4 white to the ]fan white , the other house white connects to both the black and blue from the fan .. to be exactly correc the white fan wire should be connected to the white house wire that is the white power wire from the electrical panel.,

Where do you connect the blue wire

Next time don't lose the instructions.....

Black is your answer...

If just simply hooking the blue and black together with the black from the switch/power supply does not work you need to replace the wire going to the fan with a 12/3 wire(white, black, red, ground) along with a switch, what you have now is a 12/2(white,black,ground)

Here is the following way it should be hooked up using 12/3 romex to the fan from wall switch.
White,Black, ground power supply
Make sure 12/3 is fed to the fan location.
From the power you Y off the black to the red with a piece of red wire to the switch.
Then from the switch is red wire.
Then at the fan red connects to blue, black connects to black, white to white, and ground to ground.

Hampton Bay ceiling

When I've installed these fans in the past, the blue wire was for power to the light kit. If you don't have a light kit, just tuck it out of the way.
