Squeaking fan belt

fan belts squeak for several reasons 1 incorrect belt for pulley.2 belt running on the botton of the pulley and worn pulleys. To check measure across the top part of the pulley and the widest part (back) of the belt should be the same if not marginally bigger. V belts work best at t5he top of the pulley. If you can see that the pulley is polished at the bottom the belt is slipping and not driving Check if the pulley sides where the belt runs is not stepped from wear. Recheck the tension as new belts stretch slightly. If you have a multi groove pulley check the tension setting. As a last resort CRC make a product that is used to stop belt but it is best to fix the real fault first

What makes a belt squeak?

Belts squeak for the same reason tires do when they spin. They are slipping. Something isn't turning as fast as the belt wants it to. On ford it's usually ether the idler sprocket or the tensioner. If you remove the belt and try spinning all of the pulleys by hand.( note the crank wont spin freely) you will usually be able to tell witch ones slipping.

2006 Toyota Corolla LE. Loud squeaking coming from serpentine belt area after I start the engine cold. Changed the belt recently but still noice persist. Loud squeaking goes away after driving for 3-5...

It is probably the tensioner pulley that's gone bad. It can be replaced separately, if you can purchase the pulley separately. As to how to go about changing it in such a small space, it's definitely possible, with the right type of tools. That's why mechanics have so many different shapes and lengths of the same size tools.

My dryer squeaks model #mde3600ayw

Many reasons for this to happen. First the seal surrounding the drum to the front panel maybe dirty causing this squeak
In the other hand most squeaks are caused by the dried up bearing inside the roller for the belt tensioner. If so replace the belt and tensioner pulley for the belt gets stretched by a worn pulley and will break eventually too

How to replace serpentine belt 1999 yukon

There is a sprint loaded tensioner (has smooth pulley) with an opening on the arm to insert a breaker bar or rachet you push to releieve tension to remove the belt....I think it is 1/2" drive.

Use the belt routing diagram in the engine compartment to install the belt....smooth side goes over smooth pulleys and ribbed side goes over ribbed pulleys.

I always save my old belt in case the belt ever breaks on a trip...
