Removing hood ornament on 89 Lincoln: Sadly, I have to sell my mother's beloved '89 Lincoln. I'd like to keep the hood ornament as a keepsake--I bought a used, identical one on Ebay, now how do I switch these out in the most economical, efficient manner.

I have a 2001 Lincoln Town Car . When it rains, there is water in the passenger

The vent under the hood on passenger side , more than likley the seal is leaking letting the water go inside. I have had to fix my mother's 1999 and my 2001 lincoln. It is not very hard to fix. You will have to remove the screws on the passenger panel under the hood to get to the vent. Pry the vent loose and re seal. You can take the hose and spray water on the W/S when it is dry to make sure it is coming in at that location.

How do I get the "standing star" hood ornament off? Need to replace it.

After you buy the new ornament, to take the old one out, get a small phillips head screwdriver and a big, soft rag. Basically, you just use the rag to keep from scratching the paint on the hood as you work the screwdriver (may be easier with two) underneath the ornament, and slowly work it up enough that it just pops right out.
The ornament has two posts at the 3 and 9 o'clock position. Work evenly at these two points.

check it then rate it

I have a lincoln ls 2000 the bttaery keeps draining the alternator is good front end damage hood and driver side light needs to be replaced what could be the problem?

Is there's sufficient damage to the hood, the hood switch that turns on the hood light is most likely damaged or tripped on due to the hood damage. This would drain your battery fast. Removing the light unit may interrupt the power. Otherwise, the switch needs repair.

My 1992 lincoln towncar wants to quit at low rpms, it also wants to quit if i hit a bump in the road

Before you spend alot of money, try this. I have an 89 Lincoln TC and it had an intermitent stalling problem which was the result of various wiring connections that were dirty. Go through each connection under the hood, disconnect, clean and relube and connect. If this doesn't solve the problem it could be ignition module related which would blow a code. Keep hoping it's just dirty wire connections. Hope this helps.

Can't find the horn relay 89 lincoln towncar

the horn relay is located under the hood with three more relays including the ignition relay......If you stand from the driver side looking at the hood, it would be the first relay on your left. You can actually remove it and test your horn to see if it is going to work just to make sure. Good luck

How to replace hood star?

it is very easy, open hood, locate hood ornament, with a pair of pliers twist of to the left like if you were unscrewing a screw, and vise versa when installing new one.
ABOVE IS A FUKIN LYE. IF YOU DO THIS YOU R DAMNAG YOU CAR FOR GOOD AND NEVER FIX IT. THE ONLY WAY DOING THIS IS BUY MY CD ON ELECTRONIC BAY (EBAY) AND YO U SEING HOW MY PROFESSION DO IT YOU EBAY FOR BENZ ORNAMENT AND YO U BY MY CD OR ELSE YOU NEVER DO IT GOOD
I believe the original answer is correct. That being said, who the hell would take advice from the ignorant, obscene, can't spell or write English person who replied who is trying to sell something on eBay. Absurd!
Actually, the ignorant nut case with the obscene language who cannot spell or write English is partly correct; you must compress the outer shell with the pliers (preferably channel-locks) and turn it 1/4 turn counter-clockwise (to the left) so that the outer shell lines up with the release cuts in the hole in the grill. Once the shell is lined up properly, the ornament will slide straight out the top. Be careful that you guard against sending the old ornament mount out the top and over and down your nice Mercedes hood; that could cost you some cash to buff out the scratches! As for buying the nut case's CD, I'll leave that up to you.
