I was driving, stopped a stop light accelerated again and it felf like I bumbt the shifter into neutral. and the trans stop pulling. I turned the key off and restarted the engine put it in gear and it pulled for about 150 ft and the felt like it was bumbted into neutral again. and every time i turn it on and off again it will move about 150 ft to 300 feet and feel like it was bumbted into neutral again. Any Ideas! Please help!

You can "shift on the fly" at up to 45mph - just let off the gas and pull the shifter back to 4hi. DO NOT try going to 4lo while moving.
Another way is to stop, put it in neutral, and pull the shifter back to 4hi or 4lo.
This is vacuum activated - so if you can't get it to engage - the vacuum motor is failed - or you have a disconnected or rotted vacuum line.
Cherokees have the command - track. You'll see a lever next to the
transmission shifter that has letters 2H, 4H, N, 4L on it. You can
shift from 2H (2wheel drive high range) to 4H (4wheel drive high range)
at any legal speed. If it's an automatic, I recommend just taking your
feet off of both pedals, so there's not a lot of torque being passed
thru the transfer case. If it's a standard I recommend stepping on the
clutch when you shift, but it's not necessary. To go to Neutral just
pull the shifter back one more position to the N position. To shift
into 4L (4wheel drive lo range) you must be stopped. I also recommend
shifting the transmission into neutral when you do this. Push the
shifter to the right, then pull it back.
If it is automatic transmission you must stop vehicle put it in neutral or "n" then put shifter that is indicates 2h 4h and 4L pull down to 4h if you are driving on highway or pull down then over and up to 4L if you are not going to be driving faster than 30mph.
If manual put in neutral also and do the same process as automatic there will be a light on dash board indicating that it is in 4wd also put transmission back to drive on automatic or shift to first gear on manual
That would be your neutral park switch is bad or broken. If the shifter linkage is not aligned with the neutral park switch it will not work properly. Located on drivers side on top of Trans.
You sould have been moore frequent on your transmission fluid changes, and you shouldn't have taken it to Jiffy Lube either. Your best bet is to drain and fill the trans fluid run it shift gears. Drain and fill again. Do this 3 times. Yeah the transmission fluid is expensive. on the last drain and fill you want to get a bottle of LUBE GUARD from NAPA or who ever sells it. put the whole 10oz bottle in. Shift Rev, 1, 2, 3, D. Neutral Rev D. If that don't work then you have bad seals.
I had the same problem in my 96 f-350. The transmission has slipped recording a slip code in the transmission. You can pull the codes and get it. I shifts into a safe mode that increases the pressure inside your transmission as part od a fail safe. Plain and simple, you have to have the tranny rebuilt.
chances are you don't have to replace the computer. the reason i tell you this is because you did not mention that the car is running lousy. no complaints of rough idle or missfire or hard starting. chances are that your engine speed sensor which sends the signal to the computer which then controls the transmission is most likely the culprit.. and it could just bhe that there is a loose connection between the two. if that is ok then your transmission control module is faulty. this is not the main computer, but the gobetween the trans and the ecm.. hope this helps please rate this...thanks(btw....the knock sensors control timing not the trans mission)
