Read receipts are available only for Google Apps for Work, Education, and Government customers. They are NOT available in personal Gmail accounts.

About read receipts

A read receipt is an email notification delivered when a recipient opens (and presumably reads) an email you send. The receipt confirms that the recipient saw your message and records the time. When you view a message for which you've requested a receipt, the current status appears just below the body of the message when you view Gmail on the web.

There's only one version at a time. Gmail is a cloud service (the software is on the website) so it is basically the same for everyone. To change the option settings, click the cogwheel at the top right below your email address, and select Settings.

'Read receipt' is not available in personal (free) accounts and it's not much use anyway since it needs your recipient to confirm receipt. Many people choose to turn off that facility, so you can never be sure if or when they read, or even saw, your email.

How are you accessing your account? Have you tried using a browser?

login with your gmail address and password.

Then read your mail.

Can you be more specific? Do you want to change your gmail address from something else to this address, or are you simply trying to change the display of your address?

If another user's account comes up, sign out of it by clicking the avatar in the upper-right then clicking "Sign out."

If you still can't get in, click the "Can't access your account?" link on the sign-in page.

If you're using Microsoft Internet Explorer, try:
View > Text Size > Medium (button)

then Left-click the "Reload" button to reload the Gmail page. If should reload using the specified text size.

Alternatively, the browser could be exited, then re-entered to reset the page text size to the default value (medium).

There is problem with Gmail & IE compatibility . Try using google chrome or Mozilla firefox.
