Typically their should be instructions specific to your motherboard model at the manufacturers website. You will need to have downloaded the new bios.rom file and a small application that does the flash itself.

Usually you wont ever need a bios update unless dealing with enthusiast hardware which is brand new hardware that has just been sold and needs updates regularly.

BIOS Update

You didn't state what the operating system is, your brand and model of BIOS or what the problem is you are trying to correct. You should state exactly what the problem is you are experiencing and why you think a BIOS update is likely the answer. Having said that, BIOS updates are usually a simple process, download the update and boot to the USB flash drive, CD/DVD or floppy containing the update. Follow the mfg's instructions exactly. If you are given an opportunity to back up your current BIOS, you should do so.

Even though this is relatively simple, it shouldn't be attempted by anyone not familiar with this type of process. A failed BIOS update can very easily render the computer totally useless until a new BIOS chip is installed, even if that is an option. Given the way your question is worded, I'd hazard a guess that you should have a qualified technician do this for you.

The BIOS has been erased, I do not have floppy, but i want to write the bios

In order to write a BIOS, you would have to have acess to very expensive equipment as well as be amazingly good at whatever programming language they use to write BIOS (something like Assemly or some other hardware-level language). In short, you can't do it.
See the motherboard drivers section for a listing of computer motherboard manufacturer driver and BIOS update pages or our support section for computer manufactures.
Unlike earlier computers that date before 1996, new computers have a Flash BIOS which enables users to update the BIOS chip on motherboard using a software program. These programs have the capability of correcting issues that may be occurring with your computer hardware. These issues can include, but are not limited to, the below corrections.
  • Add the capability of adding new hardware into the computer.
  • Additional options or corrections to the BIOS setup screen.
  • Correcting issues with incompatibility with hardware.
  • Update hardware capacity and capabilities.
  • Missing information or instructions.
  • Update a startup logo.
Older computers who need an update for the Year 2000 issue

Only obtain the BIOS update from the computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer, unless the computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer is no longer in business.

Do not shut off or reboot the computer until the BIOS instructs you to do so.

Verify that the BIOS you have been instructed to use or the one that you are downloading will resolve the issue you are attempting to fix. Remember that BIOS updates will only fix hardware issues and will not fix software issues, unless that software is directly related to the hardware.

Verify the BIOS version and make sure that the BIOS update you plan on using is the next version. For example, if your BIOS is 1.0a, and the manufacturer has 1.0b, 1.0c, 1.0d, etc. You should be updating to 1.0b. If you need 1.0d, update to 1.0b, 1.0c and then 1.0d unless otherwise instructed by your computer or motherboard manufacturer.

Verify that the computer has been scanned for viruses, viruses that may reside in the write-able portion of the BIOS may cause the BIOS to abort or fail, possibly causing the computer to encounter additional issues.

If you are updating a laptop or portable computers BIOS ensure that it has AC power and is not running off the battery.

Finally, when upgrading a BIOS, it is important that your read the disclaimer and any other information or instructions included with the download. Many computer manufactures will not support a BIOS if done by the user of the computer without the instructions of a technician or company representative. If the BIOS causes any difficulty with the computer you may be held responsible.

How do I download a BIOS update without a working computer?

If you are unable to get to the Internet in order to download a BIOS update we suggest downloading and creating a BIOS diskette on a different computer. For example, a friends computer or a computer at your work.

Can anybody help how to flash bios into a acer aspire 3680 using the usb?

Even with the automated (windows-based) BIOS updating software, this is not a small matter. I would make certain that you need the update for a specific problem before proceeding. Also realize that a failed or interrupted BIOS update may ruin the BIOS chip resulting in a much more costly and difficult repair. Don't jump into any BIOS update without doing your homework, making sure it's necessary, and make sure you get the correct BIOS for your PC. And make sure you don't interrupt the power once it starts! That will brick your computer for sure!

Bios chip in intel d945gccr, how can i identify the bios chip?

Identifying some BIOS chips can be quite difficult. Essentially, there are two effective and relatively simple ways to help achieving this profiling task
  1. Using a software program such as Everest or SiSoft Sandra
  • EVEREST Home Edition is a free system diagnostics, system information and benchmarking solution for home PC users, based on the award-winning EVEREST Technology.

It offers the world's most accurate system information and diagnostics capabilities, including online features, memory benchmarks, hardware monitoring, and low-level hardware information.
Accurate low-level information about motherboard, CPU and BIOS, including chipset details, DMI enumeration, AGP configuration information, SPD memory modules list, DRAM timing information and CPU instruction set support.

2. identify the motherboard model and BIOS version in the manual that came with the computer.
If no manual is available, right-click "Computer" and click the "Properties" option from the menu to find the computer model and number. Use that information to identify the motherboard by going to the manufacturer's website and locating the system specifications for that computer model.

Motherboard BIOS softwere for update

The process of upgrading the BIOS on a computer is also
called "FLASHING" the BIOS.

On very old computers (486 and older) the BIOS may be
permanently programmed into read-only memory chips,
which are not flash-able, although it may be possible to
replace the chips, or re-program them using special
equipment by a qualified technician.

On virtual all modern computers, the BIOS can be updated
using new data and a special FLASH program available via
download from the manufacturer.

This is a very dangerous procedure that can destroy the
motherboard if performed incorrectly, and should not be
performed unless absolutely necessary, such as when
you computer or software will not run properly without it.

Most mother board manufacturer's (for example Asus) offer
software patches and downloads on their web site, as well
as BIOS upgrades.

Note that the BIOS is 100% board specific, installing the wrong
BIOS can permanently destroy *********** board, so make sure
that you download the correct one for your board.

Once you have the downloaded the BIOS upgrade, there are 3
possibilities:

1) The downloaded file is self-installing, either from Windows,
or it creates a boot-able diskette, which in turn contains all
the files needed to update (FLASH) the BIOS.

2) The BIOS comes with a a separate installer (.exe) which
either runs from Windows or via a boot-able diskette.

3) The existing BIOS has a "built-in" flash utility, accessable
through the BIOS settings. This utility runs at a very low
level without any operating system to self-update the BIOS
from your download binary file, located on the hard drive or
on a diskette.

This is by far the best and safest way to do the job, but only
if your motherboard and (existing BIOS) has that capability.

===
In any event, the first step is to visit the manufacturer's WEB
site, then go to SUPPORT or DOWNLOADS.

Find the exact model and version number of you motherboard
in the manufacturer's list, and download the latest BIOS
update, and any installation (or flashing) utilities that come
with it.

1) Follow the manufacturer's instruction exactly !!!!

2) Do not turn off the computer until the BIOS update is
complete, and you are instructed to do so !!!

N.B.
The computer BIOS is the lowest level program on your PC,
without which the computer CANNOT read the disk drives or
perform the lowest necessary functions.

If the BIOS is damaged, or
If the wrong upgrade is installed, or
If the upgrade is performed incorrectly, or
If the upgrade is interrupted or crashes before finishing,

the computer may become unable to repair itself, and
the mother-board may become permanently unusable.

(This depends on the actual mother-board and BIOS design,
and on the damage done by the failed installation)

Good luck,

Martin

You need to have a bootable disk that has the bios for that specific motherboard on it and you need to flash it. Why dont you go to the HP website and look up the model number, it will tell you specific hardware in your system and also you can download the bios, bios updating software and you should alos find information on how to properly update the bios. Never ever restart your computer during bios update, it will f23ck it up.
