Each of the pulleys on top of the deck should have tensioners. These tensioners are usually the type which have a bolt for you to tighten while attached to the pulley. While you tighten the bolt, the pulley puts tension on the belt.

You will probably need more info.
The belt is listed in your manual, if you have one.
If you can bring the belt in, a good auto parts store will have it in stock.
If you have the model no. we may be able to find the size for you on the internet.

LTX 1000 CRAFTSMAN /42 IN. DECK BELT LODGED ABOVE PULLEY AND STOPPED MOWER AND BROKE BELT. IS THE BELT SIZE 96 OR 97 INCH? THE BELT HAS DONE IT TWICE/STCK BETWEEN THE PULLEY AND THE THING ABOVE IT.
Without the model number, I couldn't tell you what belt goes on the ground drive. That 174883 is a 5/8 x 97" and is your deck drive belt. Your ground drive belt may just need replacing. They will wear thin and loosen up between the pulleys and cause the problems you're having. The old belt may still have the numbers on it.
