Tension pulley has fallen off and needs replacing

First how do I get to the Tension Pulley - and second is it looks easy to change out the assembley and put on the new one - but what should I do if one of the bolts have broke? Is it just old age that made this happen?

The tension pully should be accessable from the top of the fender. If one of th bolts broke, then an easy out will have to be utilized to remove the old bolt . Yes it could be wear and tear that makes this happen.

Replace a fan belt on 1999 AU Falcon

replacing fan belts is easy except for some model have a vry little room to work on... to replace belt, 1st look for the tension pulley, its an indipendent pulley that its only purpose it to stretch the belt. at the back of that pulley you'll see a bolt loosen it then lose also the tension bolt located near at that area too... once youve done that it would be easy for you to remove and replace the belt... hope that helps..

I have replaced the tension pulley and the other free spinning pulley "same size" pulley s and also replaced belt and the belt keeps falling off tension pulley and it is a very very strong...

The tensioner is most likely bad and not just the pulley. If the spring is weak look at the original marks on the original pulley. The belt should ride towards the engine side of the pulley and not the rounded outer edge.

I replaced the alternator on my 1990 K1500 w/5.7 L Engine. However the tension pulley looks jambed and I can't adjust belt w/o complete removal of pulley. Do I need to install a new pulley too? If so,...

The whole assebly will rotate allowing the tension to be release. Place breaker bar on nut in front of pulley and rotate... up if i remember right and tension is relieved. If pulley itself is siezed you will now it when the tension is relieved.. Good Luck

Need to change the drive belt on my toyota corolle 2005 model how do i go about it

Hi,

release tension on belt by:

-putting a socket/breaker bar or ratched on the tensioner pulley bolt and use it to relieve tension on the belt

-slide belt off tensioner pulley. replace with new belt in same pattern across all pulleys and again relieve tension on the tensioner puller to slide the new belt back on.

--you may need to remove the bolt on the tensioner closest to the pulley.

---if you don't know what the tensioner looks like look up the part on autozone's website for a picture you can match on your car

Best regards.

Where is the tension pully on a ford taurus 93?

As you stand outside the engine compartment, facing the serpentine belt part of the motor the "tension pulley" should be in the upper right area of the belt and look like a pulley pressing against and running on the outside of the belt. These are spring tensioners and you need a tool to relieve the tension for easy belt removal and replacement.

Need to change alternator but dont know where tension pully is to remove and replace belt is

Ok, the easy way to find the belt tensioner is:
Find the two pulleys that are made out of plastic or nylon. Grab the belt and pull (or use a large screwdriver, or something like that for leverage). Watch to see which pulley moves side to side, not rotating; it'll be one of two smaller pulleys in the middle of everything. When you find this, then you can put a socket and ratchet on the bolt in the middle of the pulley, and turn to get it to loosen. It won't stay put, so you'll have to loosen, and slide the belt off say, the water pump pulley(also for the fan), then you can let the tension off. Hope this is what you were looking for.

1999 dodge durango 5.9 v8 loud squealing noise from under hood replaced tenison pulley, idler pulley, ac pulley/clutch assembley, and belt please help

You didn't mention the alternator, power steering pump, or water pump. In fact, any pulley other than the crankshaft one can have a bad bearing or dry seal. Remove the belt and spin each pulley while listening for any rough noise or squeal. If it was the crankshaft, it might be time to check the oil. Start the engine with the belt off to see if it does squeal. Make sure the noise isn't coming from the radiator fan(s).

Tension pulley needs to be replaced

there is only one bolt holding the pully on, should be easy to replace, remove overflow tank and washer tank for easy access.
