Cannot get CPU to recognize Tatung LCD Monitor

My desktop computer crashed and I had to reinstall all software. Since then the Tatung Monitor L17AMTN will only display in extremely low resolution (480x600) stating the montior is not being recognized. Sounds like it needs a driver right?

I went out to Tatung's website, downloaded the *.icm and *icf files, and saved where they stated. But this did not work. I believe the files are for Windows 95/98 and I have XP.

I emailed Tatung asking for the XP driver and they stated this monitor is a Plug and Play, not requiring a driver. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the monitor, but it doesn't pick up that there's new hardware.

Help! I'm so frustrated because it used to work fine.

When you reinstalled the drivers, did you reinstall the video card drivers? The drivers for your video card should be sufficient to power your display.

I have unreadable lines across my screen

Hi You need to try using different monitor/lcd to find out if the cpu or the monitor is the problem
- If the screen on the monitor will work fine after using a different monitor or lcd it only means that the cpu is working properly and also it means that the problem is the the monitor/lcd and you need to bring it to the repair center or you need to replace it.
-If the screen on the monitor will encounter the same problem it means that the integrated video inside your cpu is busted. if your computer is still under warranty you better call the manufacturer.
-Also you can try the safe mode. after switching on the computer press repeatedly the F8 button on your keyboard and it will direct you to the diagnostic menu of windows and all you have to do is to choose SAFE MODE and hit the enter button then you need to wait until the windows load if the appearance will work fine it means that you need to reinstall the software driver of video graphics adapter.

After installing a Dell Studio xps the size of the picture on the screen shrunk 1 1/2" on the bottom and 1" on the top

This can occur if the video driver has not been installed after installing Windows.
You can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

I have a Tatung lcd flat screen monitor tv. The television comes on there is sound but the screen is black. The tv is 5 years old. What would cause this?

Failed backlight inverter circuits or the power supply for the backlight circuits has failed, you need to open it up and inspect the power suply first, look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops. Post back what you find so we can guide you further.

I used CRT monitor now iconect hcl 710 Lsa model lcd monitor no signal disply. an other cpu accept his monitor working good what problem ? My cpu core 2 duo intel prosser 2 gb ram 2ghz

Possibly, the CRT monitor was set to a frequency which is too high for the LCD monitor.

Try booting in Safe Mode (press F8 at boot), then set the video for a lower resolution.

Reboot with the new, lower, resolution.

In Control Panel choose Hardware, then Scan for New Hardware and get the LCD monitor recognized.

Then, from the Desktop properties, you will be able to see all resolutions supported by the monitor.

Tatung monitor Power light shows yellow light.

It sounds like your resolution or refresh rate is out of reach for your screen.

Restart your computer (even if it will be manually unplugging the power cable)

If you have no display while your computer starts up; you might have a hardware failure. Swapping your screen out, or plugging it into another computer (that works) will confirm if this is the issue.

If you can see the computer starting up you can press F8 (on your keyboard) continuously just before Windows can start.

Select "Safe mode" so that you will have the basics of screen settings.

Now you can go to control panel, display and click on the Settings Tab at the top. Change your settings to a rather default "1024x768" resolution and change your referesh rate to nothing more than 75hz under the advanced icon.

Hope this helps!?

Monitor L17AMTN flashes WinXP desktop, then blanks.

dmellman, Before you open it up, try this! With fully booted pc and WIN DESKTOP screen up, reconnect the L17AMTN . Have a bright flashlight handy so that when the lcd screen flashes on for 1 second and then goes dark, you will want to check to see if the desktop remains on the screen even though you think it went away. Shine the light 1-2 inches from screen at different angles. Has the desk top completely disappeared or is it still being displayed? Do you know about Cold-Cathode-Fluorescent tubes and their Inverter type power supply? I assume that this unit also has a "lay on floor black box switch-mode-power-supply" that is supposed to supply raw 12v-14v dc to the monitor? This symptom is typical of lcd monitor power supply failure, and or inverter board failure. Not to mention the fact that the CCFT's could be a bit tired from use. YOUTUBE has some videos on taking apart lcd monitors. also do search on web for "bad caps on lcd boards" or "bad caps in lcd monitors". I should think that this Tatung might suffer from swollen cap-itis. get back to me with results of your investigation. Im louie12fix on fixya or [email protected] just nrth of Windy City
