Music on iPods with different s/Nos. mixed up

Hi,
My wife and I upload our CDs to iTunes and copy them our separate named folders then download the music to our personal iPods,we have done so for over a year.... BUT somehow my iPod has copied her music onto my iPod when I plugged my iPod in...........

Any ideas as to how I can separate the music again, i.e deleting my wife's music from my iPod without losing any of her music... as I am concerned that she my lose her music when she plugs her iPod in.

Connect iPod to computer.
Open up iTunes.
Click on the icon on the left sidebar of iTunes that says "iPod Nano".
Click on the Music tab.
You will notice that at least one folder has been set to "Sync music" - the songs in these folders will be automatically loaded onto your iPod everytime you connect it to your computer. I would suggest separating the music folders that you use and the folders that your wife uses on your computer itself. Then, you can sync only the songs in your own personal folder.
Alternatively, you can disable the "Sync Music" option altogether by unchecking the box.

Whichever choice you make, you will now need to manually go in and delete the songs you don't want.
You can do this by clicking on the Music icon underneath the iPod Nano icon on the left sidebar of iTunes. Find a song you no longer want on your iPod, right-click the song, and select delete.

Good luck!

My Ipod nano contains all my music. Unable to transfer to laptop

Unfortunately iTunes doesn't let you transfer anything other than your iTunes store purchases from your iPod.

Totransfer all your iPod content, all your music, playlists, videos, podcasts and photos to your new iTunes library you will need todownload software like TouchCopy.

Here is how to use TouchCopy

  1. Download and Install TouchCopy. Downloads are free and are available for both PC and Mac.
  2. Start up TouchCopy by double-clicking the TouchCopy icon on your desktop
  3. Connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer. TouchCopymay start iTunes - don't worry, TouchCopy has fixed it so that iTuneswill not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.
  4. Now select which songs you want to copy into iTunes, if you want toselect all your music, select "Music" from the list on the left andclick on "Copy to iTunes" button in the TouchCopy control bar. In a similar way, you can also use TouchCopy to copy your playlists, videos, podcasts, photos, contacts, calendars and notes.
  5. Whenyou are satisfied that all your iPod content is safely in iTunes, useiTunes to re-sync your iPod which will enable you to add new content toit.

How to dowload music

1. Pull out your CDs and start downloading. CDs can be used to download your favorite music from the past. You can search the titles on the back of the CD cover and choose the track numbers you want added to your iPod. Simply attach your iPod to your computer, wait until the iTunes program has appeared and add the music to your library and play list. 2. Use the iTunes store. The great thing about the iTunes store is that it is easily accessible. You can search by artist name, song title or album. The prices appear right next to the song 3. Find a user-friendly music download program. You can either buy a program and install from the Internet or upload a program from a disc. 4. Use your email. Email is much more than just a way to talk online. If your friend has a few songs that you do not have, tell them to email it to you. You can download the music from your email account. Save the songs on your desktop or in a file folder and click and drag the music into iTunes. You will only have to wait a short time for the conversion process! 5. Transfer iTunes libraries from another iPod. If your iPod is fairly new and you don?t have any great music, simply borrow your friend?s music by plugging in your iPod to their iTunes library. A pop up window will appear, asking if you want to use the current library. Simply agree to use the iTunes library and you will have all of their music in a matter of minutes.

I was given an ipod (no instructions) It says "use itunes to restore"...........why can't I just download music from my computer?

You can only upload music to an apple ipod if you have itunes. Then you can put your music on there.

Its apples way of marketing.

I can't sync music to my new Ipod

first make sure that you have the latest itunes installed on your computer by going to this link
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
once you have installed itunes open the program and click on agree to the license, then plug to ipod into the computer, itunes will have all of the drivers need for it, then build your self a library of music, by either copying your cds over to itunes or going to File, add folder and select your music folder, it will make a copy of all of your music and the original music will stay where it is, then you can select your ipod by clicking on the ipods image and sync it from there.

I hope this helps

IVE JUST BOUGHT A LAPTOP,IVE GOT MY ITUNES ON IT AND IT WONT LET ME COPY ANY OF MY MUSIC ONTO DISC.

are you trying to copy music onto a cd disk or onto your ipod. If you are trying to copy music onto your ipod, you will have to clear the ipod of the music that was loaded onto it previously, because it will not detect your new settings on your laptop. An easy way to do this is copy over your itunes music folder onto cd/dvd from your old computer and paste the music into your itunes music folder on your laptop. When you open itunes go to file, import file, and choose your itunes music folder. (If it hasn't aready automatically picked the music up). This will put all of your music back into the itunes library. You will then need to create another playlist for your ipod. Reset your ipod in itunes mode and upload your new playlist onto it. If you have vista on your laptop then you may need to download the lastest version of itunes. You can do that by going here> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
I hope this helps

Transfer iTunes music from Apple computer to PC

There are two ways you can do this:
CD First make sure you have iTunes 5 or 6, and using the Back Up To Disc feature, burning all the music onto CDs, and then uploading the CD music to the PC.
If you already have the CDs of the music, and didn't buy the music online, then of course you can just upload them to the PC.
There is more information on the Apple website: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1382?viewlocale=en_US
iPod If you have an iPod, you can use it for the transfer. Better just to send you to the website: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329

I hope this helps.  Shari Dyer
