My guess would be either a failed switch or a failed (motor) brush, unless you've been using it REALLY hard and burned up the motor windings. You'd really have to work it HARD to do that, though.

Try spraying the clamp assy with WD40 and then gently bang the front down against the work surface whilst holding open the clamp lever.

Probably shot. You could buy parts, but now worth the time. Probably stripped the gears.

You need to do it carefully so you don't tear it... but it will just pel back and slide off...

blow out all debris in that area w/ comp,air then lube /spray w/ wd-40 real good and work mech, to/fro
