Static noise/no sound from ipod touch

Awhile back I got my ipod touch wet. I could see condensation under the screen so I turned it off and let it dry. I waited till I could not see any moisture. When I turned it back on it worked fine for a short time, maybe 2 days. Then I started hearing a lot of static. Soon after thats all I could hear. Everything else still works, including the big port. However I can get no sound from the headphone jack. Can I fix it myself, or is it worth taking to a repair shop?

Sounds like you just need the ipods headphone jack replaced.

Try either http://www.ipodrefresh.com or http://www.ipodrecharge.com. They specialize in ipod repairs.

SOURCE: How do I fix a bad connection with the headphone

Hi, this seems to happen on a lot of mp3 players , usually when you wiggle the headphone in the jack the sound cuts in and out, its the result of the headphone jack bending the metal contact inside the player or can be due to a build up of dirt/ grime in the socket. The problem generally gets worse as time goes on
if you have tried it with different headphones still get the problem and its still under warranty I would get on the apple site or down to you local apple centre and try and get a replacement.
Sometimes a spray of deoxit (plastic conductive lubricant /cleaner)
in the socket does the trick , but I would strongly reccomend trying to get a replacemnt

Ipod touch screen is unresponsive but it makes sounds like normal

Fix an Unresponsive Ipod Screen
Many of today's electronic devices including cell phones, music players and portable game systems have a touch screen.
When a touch screen fails, it does not respond when you tap it with your finger or a stylus.
This can happen due to several reasons, such as a screen protector, dust or improper calibration.
You can often fix an unresponsive touch screen by cleaning it or resetting the device.
Remove the plastic touch screen protector sheet.
Some protector sheets are too thick and prevent the touch screen from responding to your touch. If you must use a protector screen, only use one that is licensed for your specific device.
Wipe the screen with a soft microfiber cloth.
Clean off any dirt, dust or fingerprints on the screen.

Dry your hands thoroughly.
The touch screen will not respond if your hands are wet.
Reset the device.
If your device does not have a "Reset" button, remove the battery, memory card or SIM card, then reinstall them.

Delete any third-party applications you recently installed.
Some third-party applications can cause your device to lock up or freeze.

Recalibrate the touch screen.
Look in the device's Settings menu for a calibration option and follow the prompts.

iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
If this fails to fix the problem
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and hold it for a few seconds, until a red slider appears. Press the "Home" button until the frozen app quits.
If this doesn't work, you can try restarting the iPod touch.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button if you need to restart the iPod touch, and hold it until the red slider appears on the screen.
Slide your finger over the slider to turn off the device.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and hold it until the iPod touch turns back on.
If you can't turn off the iPod touch, you can try resetting it.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button while simultaneously pressing the "Home" button when you want to reset the iPod touch, and continue to hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds, until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears.

Awhile ago i dropped my itouch and the standby button on the top of the itouch jammed and it rarely worked. i was playing on it and wanted to go to the menu with the app pages and i kept clicking the home...

Since the sleep/power button is stuck it turned off because holding the top and home button for ten seconds is for turning the iPod off if it freezes so it thought you wanted a hard shut-down and the sleep/power is still being held so it is telling the iPod to turn on but holding the sleep/power button during start-up was made to turn the iPod off if it freezes during start-up. So you may want to take it to your nearest apple store.

My ipod Touch was in my purse and a to-go febreze

You can try putting it in rice for about 2 days, this can fix water damage in ipods and cell phones.

You can unlock your IPOD Touch passcode or password by following these simple steps.
  • Connect your IPOD Touch to iTunes
  • Press or Hold the power and home keys 10 seconds.
  • Screen goes black, now release the power button
  • Make sure you do not release the Home key until your iTunes says "We have detected an itouch in recovery mode."
  • After this its simple all you got to do is a simple restore using your iTunes

I have an ipod touch 8gb and every time i turn the volume up it turns off and turns back on after awhile help???

Sounds like a hardware issue. The best solution for this should be restore as new and NOT FROM BACKUP. Plug your iPod into iTunes on your computer and click on your device and choose Restore from your Summary Tab.

My refrigerator has started making a great deal of noise.

The only part of the system that is still under warranty is the sealed system. The condenser fan, which is about the only thing that can sound like an airplane in the back of the unit, is only warranted for a year.
What often happens is there is a shroud around the fan that is made of cardboard. The cardboard warps over time, or has gotten wet or damaged in such a way that it comes into contact with the fan as it turns. You can usually get under there with a screwdriver or nut driver and loosen screws, then readjust the shroud so the fan will not hit it, then tighten the screws back down.
Now, sometimes the noise is coming from the compressor, but that whirring noise is usually hard to hear over the condenser fan noise. If it is the compressor, don't worry about it. It's not covered under warranty anyway, and that's just the way they sound sometimes. And the compressor is not serviceable anyway. But I doubt that is the problem.
