My sony viao vpceh15en, webcam showing a negative image ,though i re installed driver software,arc companion,i also called the customer care , but when i change the default setting speciall gamma setting my webcam functions normally. How do i fix this

In Device Manager "Scan For Hardware Changes" if it does not find missing hardware go to Sony Laptop drivers and support, you did not say which OS you are using, and download the drivers/software for your OS :http://www.sony-mea.com/support/product/VPCCW26FA. Thay's a good place to start. After loading the drivers/software RE-BOOT.

Check if Imaging Devices contain the Sony Visual Communications camera driver.
If it is not listed, uninstall and reinstall the WebCam Companion Software which contains the drivers for the camera.
If issue persists, perform a system restore to an earlier time and date when the camera was working as expected.
If the issue persists even after the system restore contact any authorized service center or the sony service team to get the unit repaired.

1. Verify if the webcam drivers and software is installed in the computer.
The WebCam Companion Software contains teh drivers for the camera.
2. If the WebCam Companion Software is available and there is an error message like, no camera detected or camera in use. Then, ensure to first singout from any third party messenger software such as Skype/Yahoo messenger and exit the messenger. Ensure the messenger is not running in the background and you have successfully quit and exit the software after logout.
After that, use the WebCam Companion Software to make the camera working.
3. If the issue persists, check if Imaging Devices is listed and has the Sony Visual Communications Camera driver installed under device manager in the computer.
4. Press the Windows logo key +R key together to access the RUN window and type the command "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes, press the enter key.
5. In device manager locate Imaging Devices. If not present, reinstall the WebCam Companion Software, Sony Firmware extension parser device driver, Intel Chipset Driver and Sony Shared Library.

Ensure to restart computer after installing the software and driver.

The Sony Notebook computers are shipped either with the Arcsoft WebCam Companion or the VAIO Camera Capture Utility.
1. Click on start, in the search bar type, Webcam Companion or VAIO Camera Capture Utility to find what is shipped.
2. If both are missing, then check if the drivers are installed for teh camera in device manager.
Press the Windows logo+R keys together to open Run Window.
3. In the Run Window, type "devmgmt.msc" without quotes and press the enter key.
4. In the device manager window, check if Imaging Devices is listed and has the Sony Visual Communication Camera driver installed.
5. If that is missing then, install the respictive software i.e; Webcam Comapnion or the Visual communination driver and camera capture utility.

As with Windows Vista and 7 the camera drivers are incorporated with the OS itself, I suggest that you install the Arc Soft Web Companion Software to resolve this issue.

You can use the WebCam Companion Software installed in the Computer to capture images using the Motion Eye Camera.

To locate the Application, please click Start, All Programs, ArcSoft WebCam Companion Software and click ArcSoft WebCam Companion. This will open the Appilcation, then you can click the "Capture" option to capture the images.

If the Applications is not available in the Computer, you can download and install it from the below link.

I had the same problem with my VAIO E series motion eye webcam . I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers from device manager, but didnt do any good.Sometimes the device didnt even show up. So finally I uninstalled the driver and installed the win xp driver from the sony vaio support page even though I had Win 7. Now under Imaging devices in Device manager it shows 'Sony Visual Communication camera' but it works perfectly fine.

Dont uninstall the webcam companion just yet.Might be hard to get it back.

Try doing this and see if it works with webcam companion. or else you can try other free webcam softwares like ManyCam.
