The mixer was given to the customer. It had a awful looking power cord on it. He said it was tripping his breaker. I replaced the cordand the capacitor for the motor. It was pulling 38 amps.Well over the Amp ratings for that size motor. I removed the motor and cleaned and oiled the centrifgul patrs at the end of the rotor. It now pulles 8.3 amps. The customer wants it to run slower. The shifting arm does not change the speed. It is fast all the time. The mixer was given to the customer. It had a awful looking power cord on it. Give me the serial number, also hobart does'nt release their service manuals to the general public. However if you goto hobartcorp.com type in your model which is a d300 and you can access an exploded view of the parts.I work for hobart and service these mixers often.Any questions let me know.
Hobart won't give up service manuals The slide for your shift fork may be froze or corroded at top. The gear setups are fairly simple. The mainshaft nut comes off counterclockwise. The top gear has one way rollers with shims under the large washer. This gear assy must go back in the right way or you will break gears as soon as you start it.These mixers corode a lot at the top gearbox when they sit idle from moisture. Also check for broken gear teeth that may be jaming up he works. If you want to sell it let us know.

See if all the gears are dead. This will indicate which key may be broke. If all the gears are gone, look to the small shaft with the brass gear. It engages the motor worm gear.
