Check movement of the governor arm without it running. You should be able to move it by hand. If it is stuck, it could be the idle solenoid, or possibly something else more major.

Believe it or not call Wallmart, they just might have the tires you need. Or try one of the tire .com places, just enter your tire and rim size, most the time they will be tax free with no shipping charge. automotivewarehouse.com might carry them. Hope this helps, please post solved on fixya.com. So I get credit for a solved problem if it does.

Without more info I say it is a short in the switch. If not the switch trace out the wires and look for a bare spot.

by any chance welder has set for a while, or maybe got water in feul , simply drain carb, drain located at bottom of feul bowl, notice if water comes out ,its normal to get a little water thru years of use , try to drtain in container if possible, replace feul filter , and try to clean feul bowl out best you can , give it a try

If the cabinet has not been blow out with low pressure air, it shoudl be. Dirt may be the cause of the problem. If it has been blown out:

Engine idler solenoid may be stuck Solenoid gets energized from lug number 2 of ignition switch or terminal 1 of the 4 terminal block J2 on PCB1 and finds the ground through terminal3 of of J1 the the 12 terminal block on PCB1.

The US version is the same as the Aus. version in this regard.

If the problem isolates to the PC board, check the semiconductor device controling either pin.

There are only three problems that can cause the idle speed to stay in high:1) The idler switch is on high position. Switch it back to the middle.2) Machine is on auxiliary power. Switch it to panel position.3) You have a faulty PC board or idler solenoid. Need to see a repair man.Good LuckDavid

I know whats wrong licoln is a giant peice of **** i had this same thing happen to my ranger 8 look at your pc board 2 chips fell out ill bet on it

Sounds like your CT or CT board is bad. CT stands for Current Transformer. A CT senses an increase in voltage draw or current, which will trigger the idle solenoid.

Had the same problem a couple yrs. ago . Took it to the repair shop turned out to be a diode or transistor type thing less than 50.00 to fix.
