I bought the explosiv version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 for my grandson but have so far not been able to load the game. My PC (Windows XP Home Service Pack 3, 3.5gb RAM), for whatever reason is configured with the autorun.exe of the CD drive disabled, so I have been used to clicking on that file on the CD in order for the load to run. The issue with this particular program is that there are 3 disks. Disk 1 loads as I have described, but when I am asked to insert Disk 2 nothing further happens. I have looked at the folders on the disk and it would appear that the only .exe file is stub.exe (which appears to be the autorun.exe equivalent on that disk) but clicking on that produces no result. Any ideas that would redeem grandad's image in the eyes of this 7-year old would be very welcome. Thank you.
You'll have to mount the image files using deamon tools or alcohol%120

Hello all - many thanks for your responses. I have to say that I have now sent the game back to Amazon. The issue were just too many for a "silver surfer" to cope with. The disks arrived with surface marks because the mounting stud had broken in the mail. The game was only offered as being compatible with Windows XP, but in the accompanying notes it was highlighted that there could be issues if running with XP! I tried all the back-compatibility work-arounds suggested by the publisher and none worked. The result was always that whilst the fairly stable aircraft instrument panel rendered OK, the view out of the cockpit was absolute rubbish. Then on one attempt I noted that when Disk 2 was inserted, it was shown as actually being Disk 3 on my taskbar! A double check using the disk labelled as Disk 3 displayed it as being Disk 2! It had to go back - all I wanted was a fairly strightforward flight sim game for my grandson to play. I have IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles loaded and it is quite complex for a 7-year old, so when the lad gets frustrated at his lack of success, he goes into a frenzy of deliberate crashes crashes to work it off. As well as the game-play, I was hoping to interest him in the ethos of the computer being "the servant of the man" and not the other way around, as he is denied access at home due to the feeling that computing at his age is all about "mindless" gaming and not good for his mental development. If you have any suggestions for a straightforward flight sim where learning to fly, taking off, making a flight and then landing back at your home airport, I would be delighted to hear.

SOURCE: the game is not running
Apparently this game supports only Windows 2000 or Windows XP, based on the system requirements listed here:

However, there is a great (free) package you can download into Windows 7 which lets you run applications in a virtual WinXP environment. It pretty much tricks the software into thinking it is in WinXP.

SOURCE: I have installed via disk, the FSX missions airbus
Try reinstalling it but let it go to the default directory. FSX doesn't find programs where you place files in a non-default directory. Good luck and happy flying!

Hi start off by re-installing the whole game. uninstall the game properly and then run it again from the disc, also make sure the cd's surface is clean, if the problem remain after that let me know and if you get any kind of error messages let me know also.
a possible workaround for the disc verification would be to bypass it.
