First off the screen looks intact so you may want to do a little tape just to keep it together. I believe you said white wire? This would be one of the antennas for the wireless adapter. It is possible that the antenna just popped off the wireless card. To get to the wireless card you will need to remove

• The battery
• The keyboard
• The rear access panel

All of these are pretty easy and Dell has good documentation.

Battery, slide the latch on the back and pull battery out.
Keyboard remove two screws above latch, they are visible after removing the battery.
Rear panel remove three screws under the keyboard and the four corner screws on the back.

The wireless card will have a black and white wire attached. Make sure both of these are connected, they just snap on. Also make sure the wireless card is parallel with the main system board. If it sticking up push it in on the narrow side so the metal contact go all the way in and then down and it should snap into two metal clip. Re-assemble and test.
