Followed on line advice. Mechanic changed fuel pump. Said it was getting 'hot.' Replaced cam sensor. Brand new air filter fitted.
Mechanics ran diagnostic test. Cannot pick up a fault.
Car starts easily. Runs well for approx 40min. Starts jerking and then cuts out. After a wait of about 30 minutes, starts again and drives perfectly.
Please advise on next step!!! Am desperate and cannot keep paying for repairs that are NOT helping.
Could be an electrical part that only fails after getting really hot. Coils and ignition modules are known for this. Unfortunately, these parts cannot be tested for this heat-soak type problems, other than to see if spark quality at the plugs has degraded when failing. One other thought. A bad gas cap which is not allowing air to flow in as gas is used can cause this and that is a cheap part to replace just for grins.

Mazda etude 160ie a/c cuts out after approx 45 min driving or with stop start driving in traffic. I then remove the fuel hose on the injectors, turn the ignition until a steady fuel stream flows. The engine then starts after say 2 cranks. Further, she is not shy to rev to the red without a miss. I've checked the fuel cap air valve, which may have been causing an airlock. Seems to be in order. This only happens when the car gets really hot.
