How can i tell how old my insinkerator is ?

Hello, W/D here.
Basically, I'd have to say that the date of manufacture isn't really important. The Badger InSinkErators can last a long time, or wear out in a short time. I have replaced a number of them. Some were still in warranty, and some were much older. I would look instead at the performance of the disposer. Check especially for leaks around the bottom, indicating worn seals or bearings, the most common serious problems. When this is the case, it is cheaper to replace the unit than to attempt a rebuild. If the disposer is leaking all the way through the disposer, it may be leaking through the wiring connection cavity, making a shock hazard a real possibility, so trip the breaker before investigating such a leak further.
Best regards, --W/D--

Insinkerator leaks water from the bottom. this is when water runs through. no difference if the unit is running or not

There is no repair, just replace the unit. Once they start leaking, that is fatal. you could not repair for less than replacement of the unit.

Hi,
My bet is that the garbage disposal in not what is leaking... the connection to the bottom of the sink is leaking and running down the sides of the disposer...

Leak in the bottom of insinkerator 1-81 near reset button there are two little flange looking things one is leaking rapidly when water is on

depending on the age it sounds like you may have to replace the unit,, insinkerator is the best on the market so when they leak it;s time for a new one ,, if not to old and under there warranty they will send some one to ifx it just call the 1-800 number on the unit
