SOURCE: old homelite chainsaw, wont pull fuel

most of the time there is a air leak in one of the two crank shaft seals.to get to them you need to pull off the flywheel and the clutch assy.look for wet areas. that will be where the seal is letting out the oil and air.If you keep putting starting fluid in the carburator you will burn the rings, the piston and the cylinder up

SOURCE: wont start with new plug. I can smell gas, but none on plug

Check the start stop switch, sometimes they can get dirty causing the saw not to get spark. Also maybe check Your air cleaner. if it's clogged it may be flooding itself out?

SOURCE: I have a Echo chainsaw model 452Vl and am not able to start it.

Hi, It does have a filter of sorts but is on the pickup inside the tank and should not need changed. Drain the fuel mixture and check all of the plastic lines and primer bulb for cracks or kinks. Put in a fresh fuel mixture that has not been sitting, (They don't run on old mix) and try starting again. The thought process is that if it starts on the starting fluid it can only be two things, old fuel or no fuel. If the fuel change doesn't work it is probably not getting fuel thru the carb, these oil mixes gum up rather quickly and if it sat for awhile with fuel in it it may need the carb cleaned. Good Luck to you, hope this Fixsya!

SOURCE: Husqvarna 345 chainsaw runs when using starting

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You willneed to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.Makesure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylightthrough it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance on:
1. Fuel line replacement or
2. Carburetor kit replacement

Just let me know.

I have a husqvarna e-series chainsaw will start if you put gas in the carb. Then it runs waide open then stops running.I have took carb off an clean it.

If it runs when you pour gas in the carb, it's not getting any gas something is stopped up. You have to clean the carb real good, there may be some small holes that need to be cleaned out. I have used a small guitar string before to open up the holes

Echo chainsaw won't start any suggestions besides dynomite

Was it was put away with fuel in it? It may be the fuel has broken down.Dump the old fuel and put in fresh fuel and try it. Now that we have ethanol it our gas it eats the rubber partsin the carb. Another reason to run the gas out.

305 echo pours gas out of carb. screws adjusted about 1 turn out

The only reason for fuel pouring from the carb is the inlet needle under the metering diaphram is leaking, as the machine has not done a great deal of work it could just be dirt in the seat, you need to remove the metering cover from the carb, remove the diaphram and gasket, you will them see the metering lever connected to the inlet needle, the needle has a rubber tip, clean or replace the needle and blow out the seat.

Chainsaw won't stay running

You must have dirt in one or more of the carb jets. Remove the carb and clean it with carb cleaner spray and compressed air (compressed air is a must).

Runs only when I pour gas directly into carb

Plugged gas lines or they are brittle and cracked not allowing gas to be pulled through. Also carb bowl could be clogged.

Echo CS-440 Chainsaw. Was cutting firewood, saw running fine until I refilled the gas tank. The gas was a few months old but looked clean and smelled OK. But after I filled the tank could not get the...

unleaded fuel is notorious for going stale, and it can leave a resinous coating in the carb-try running the saw on half choke with new gas and less oil eg 50 to 1 for say ten minutes, this should clear the gunk out-if this does not work, you have two choices-strip and clean the carb,or adjust the H (high) scew on the carb anti-clockwise by a quarter turn a time till it revs out full bore-good idea to remove the chain and wear ear defenders when adjusting-and always use a chainsaw at its max rpm,or you run the risk of "kickback"

My Echo 550 EVL is not firing, any ideas

Replace the plug and do this:
Ignition Coil Test by SmallEng.com
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7WNBDRG4C4
You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You do not have to bend up the electrode.

You can find parts here:
EchoUSA
http://www.echo-usa.com/documentation.asp
If not listed type the model number in the “Model:” window and click Search.
Your model is CS-550EVL (see page 3). HTH
