Wont run without pouring gas down carb
SOURCE: carb settings poulan 2550 chainsaw, 42cc
Default setting are 1 turn out from in. but chech the metering diaphram as its prob hard..Dont use compressed air to clean
SOURCE: old homelite chainsaw, wont pull fuel
most of the time there is a air leak in one of the two crank shaft seals.to get to them you need to pull off the flywheel and the clutch assy.look for wet areas. that will be where the seal is letting out the oil and air.If you keep putting starting fluid in the carburator you will burn the rings, the piston and the cylinder up
SOURCE: wont start with new plug. I can smell gas, but none on plug
Check the start stop switch, sometimes they can get dirty causing the saw not to get spark. Also maybe check Your air cleaner. if it's clogged it may be flooding itself out?

Hi, It does have a filter of sorts but is on the pickup inside the tank and should not need changed. Drain the fuel mixture and check all of the plastic lines and primer bulb for cracks or kinks. Put in a fresh fuel mixture that has not been sitting, (They don't run on old mix) and try starting again. The thought process is that if it starts on the starting fluid it can only be two things, old fuel or no fuel. If the fuel change doesn't work it is probably not getting fuel thru the carb, these oil mixes gum up rather quickly and if it sat for awhile with fuel in it it may need the carb cleaned. Good Luck to you, hope this Fixsya!

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:
You willneed to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.Makesure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylightthrough it.)
Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.
If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.
If you need further assistance on:
1. Fuel line replacement or
2. Carburetor kit replacement
Just let me know.
