I have a Bellsouth 2-way radio model #2290 and can't get them to communicate with each other. Can you help?

In addition to the Channel, we also call the Frequency, there are sub tones on each channel. You must have the channel and sub tone match in order to "hear" each other. I found a manual:

Hello, could you tell me if the BellSouth 1080WP 15 Two-Way Radio is compatible or can communicate effectively with the Bellsouth 2280WP Two-Way radio?

It should. 15 channels = 7 FRS, 8 GMRS. Those are all the frequencies available. The problem could come from setting the "tone" or privacy codes. Make certain those all match and they will talk. The 1080 has 38 privacy codes, I cannot find the 2280. Typically the 22 would mean higher power.

I haven't used my Bellsouth model 1008 two way radios for a long time....I just replace the batteries and turned them on but they are not in sink with eachother. How do I get them to transmit and receive...

Sanity check. Make sure the radios are on the same channel. They shouldn't have to be "sync'd" The channel freqs are all hard set and can't be changed to my knowledge.

BellSouth FW13ZHHS Two Way Raido Instructions

Hello AlBitz,

The Bellsouth FRS radios were actually made by a company called US Electronics. Their branding agreement with Bellsouth ended in 2005 but they are continuing to sell radios that are very similiar to the ones they made under the Bellsouth name. These radios are marketed under the name Xact.

Your best bet to locate a manual for the Bellsouth 1061 radio may be contacting Xact. Their website is located at: http://www.xactcommunication.com.

Best Regards,
Ken
