Hi,
Had the same problem with Trax Central software. Ended up successfully using Naviextras Toolbox application. https://www.naviextras.com/shop/portal/downloads
Still don't know what, if any, extras on the Trax Central software. I tried to get it to run on 3 XP boxes and 2 Windows 7 boxes. Gave up in disgust. Good one Uniden.

hI, Usually, you can go to a company's website and download the latest software, but with Uniden, you must register your product first to access the proper free upgrades. It takes minutes.
Navigate to the link in the Resources section and fill in the required fields. Click on "Register."

Turn on your device and connect it to the computer using its USB cable.

Log in to the site with the password that was sent to your email address after you registered the device.

Choose "Software Upgrades." Select the MapTrax350 device, and the latest firmware upgrade will appear. Click "Download."
Select "Save File" and choose a location on your computer to save it to. After it has downloaded, double-click the program icon, select "Run" and follow the prompts to update your Trax350.

Hi suzane_hood,

For you to be able to update the maps on your Uniden Trax 5000, you must buy a new maps dvd rom from amazon for uniden maps. You can buy from amazon (just search for uniden maps update). It comes in DVD-ROM which you download through your computer to the GPS via a USB cable (should be provided with the GPS). Depending on the area where you live or travel, roads usually don't change quickly enough to justify updating more often than once every two years or longer.
