I have a defy Thermo fan gas stove the top works fine but the oven not sure how to switch it on

To turn on the oven on your Defy Thermo Fan gas stove, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that the oven is properly connected to a gas supply and that the gas valve is turned on.
  2. Turn the oven control knob to the desired temperature setting.
  3. Press the oven ignition button to ignite the gas. You may need to hold the button down for a few seconds until the gas ignites.
  4. If the gas does not ignite, check the ignition system and make sure that it is functioning properly. You may need to consult the stove's manual or contact a professional for further assistance.
  5. Once the oven is ignited, it should begin heating up to the desired temperature.
Keep in mind that it may take a few minutes for the oven to reach the desired temperature, depending on the setting you have chosen. You can use the oven control knob to adjust the temperature as needed.
If you are having trouble turning on the oven on your Defy Thermo Fan gas stove or if you have any other questions, you may want to consult the stove's manual or contact Defy customer support for further assistance.

How to Troubleshoot a Gas Range Oven That Won't Heat
By Kefa Olang, eHow Contributor
Although gas range oven may prove useful for cooking and baking, they may fail to ignite if they aren't properly maintained and set up. Lighting a gas range often involves simply turning a knob; however, blockages from food particles and debris caught in the burners, improper burner cap installation and gas supply are common problems that interfere with your gas range oven's performance. A few troubleshooting guidelines may solve these problems safely.

Instructions
    • 1
Check you have gas in your tank if your gas range oven won't heat. Contact your gas supplier if you've run out of gas.

    • 2
Clean the burners if you have gas but your burners still won't ignite. To clean the burners, lift the burner caps 9b4f010f-be4f-4db6-8a88-4c3fd17e3339.gif
    • 3
Inspect the small vertical holes on the side of your burners for dirt, food and debris. The gas won't ignite if they are clogged. Scrape dirt, debris and food from the vertical holes using a pointy object such as a toothpick or paperclip.

    • 4
Reinstall the burner caps properly. If they are tilted or wobbly, the gas may not ignite. Install the caps on the right burners. Some burners are smaller than others, so match the caps to the appropriate burners.

    • 5
Move the burner knob to the "Lite" position and wait for the gas to ignite. If it ignites, rotate the knob to your desired setting. If it doesn't ignite, contact a qualified appliance technician.

Oven turns on gas but doesnt ignite until theres gas build up and has small explosion. kenmore model 362.75702001

Hello,
What is causing that is a weak oven igniter that is not strong enough to fully open the gas valve yet just open it a little, letting gas accumalate in the oven then finally the igniter gets to full strenght and all the gas explodes. By replacing the igniter with a new strong one it will stop that.
The igniter is pretty easy to replace. Just remove the floor of the oven and the wing looking flame spreader, the screws that hold igniter to bake burner can be removed, and disconnect wiring. Then attach new igniter to burner reconnect wires and reinstall spreader and floor .
The part number for igniter is WB13K21 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;

Oven slow at starting, there is smell of gas before oven turns on

If there is a smell of gas PLEASE STOP USING IT you risk fire or explosion or both. Please get a registered Gas-fitter to look at this. If you can Turn OFF the Gas at the Wall/Outlet. Until it can be looked at. If you smell gas it is very dangerous.

My kenmore gas oven won't heat. I turn to dial to temp i want can smell gas building up in oven and can see a glow in bottom of oven but will not ignite. Sometimes if I turn on a cooking eye I can then...

When the bake igniter becomes weak or burns out, your oven would not bake. The bake igniter is usually mounted on the oven burner. It's about 1 inch by 4-8 inches (depending on the model), and comes in round or flat styles. If you don't see the igniter glow at all, it's probably burned out. Replace the igniter if found defective. Note: one of the exceptions could be that your oven is set to automatic mode instead of manual. If this is the case, set your oven to manual mode and check again.

If the bake igniter glows red and not bright yellow or white, it is probably because it is too weak. When this happens, the safety valve would not let the gas out into the oven burner. A weak igniter must be replaced.

A faulty igniter is probably the most common cause, however there are others:

-- defective thermostat
-- defective selector switch
-- defective gas safety valve
-- defective gas valve coils

My Amana gas oven won't heat up gas smell strong

Sounds like a sticking gas valve or a defective hot surface igniter. Open the broiler drawer or remove the bottom cover in the oven compartment. The oven usually has a hot surface igniter or a spark igniter. Turn on the oven and watch for the hot surface igniter to start glowing. It should glow very bright. Once it is glowing the burner gas should come on. If you hear the gas come on it should light right away. If there is any delay shut off the oven and stay back. Let the gas clear out then inspect the area near the igniter and make sure the burner is not plugged(the little holes may have debris in them). If you turn on the oven and the igniter comes, glows brightly,no gas is heard but you can smell gas it is either a blocked burner orfice/assembly or sticking gas control valve. Try giving the burner and gas control valve a tap and see if it comes on. If you tap the control valve and it starts working then shut of the oven and try it several times. If it starts to come on and off now you may have cleared whatever debris was causing the problem. If it does it again then it could be the control valve or a weak hot surface igniter. The igniter can be tested with a ohm meter. Most of the time when I get this complaint it is the oven control valve that is sticking. Be very careful when doing these procedures....gas can build up in the oven compartment very quicky and flash if ignited. Always have the gas shut off valve at the back of the range within reach and the electrical outlet in case you need to unplug it.

Gas oven will not ignite

It sounds like somebody bypassed the flame sensor on the oven, no oven should ever release gas for more than a couple seconds if there is no ignition. This oven is very dangerous and should not be used until it is looked at by a professional.

THE OVEN WILL NOT HEAT

How old is the unit? Sometimes the igniter can glow but if it isn't drawing the right amount of power to open the gas valve then that is the safety that is built into the oven... So unless the power requirement is meant gas valve will not light. Even though the hot surface igniter is glowing red hot. chances are the igniter is bad. Let me know what turns up. ken
