When I turn the key it will click 1 time, and nothing else. I was thinking the starter might be bad, could it be anything else. And if you think it's the starter, what's the best way to check it ?
Thanks in advance,
Greg
Fuel pump will not prevent engine from turnning over. the click you are hearing is the starter silinoid. you have one or more of the following: dead battery corroded battery terminals bad silinoid (or connections at silinoid) bad connections at starter bad starter. if all connections are tight and clean then get some one to turn key to the start position and you check with a test light or volt meter to see if there is 12 volts at the terminals on the silinoid if yes then check the terminal at starter. if all connections are clean what ever piece the voltage stops at is your problem if it goes all the way to the starter but starter will not turn then you need a starter.
Be careful when checking any and all of this dont get any thing you want to keep close to the parts of vehicle that move when running
I had the same problem with mine and it was the fuel pump.
IF THE BATTERY HAS ENOUGH POWER TRY GIVING THE STARTER MOTOR CASING 1OR 2 GOOD WHACKS WITH A HAMMER OR STEEL ROD SOME TIMES THIS REALLY DOES WORK IF SUCCESSFUL GET STARTER MOTOR CHECKED BY AUTO ELECTRICIAN ANYWAY BESTOF LUCK GLENN
