My Vizio L32 HDTV10A (LCD) is 2 years old, so out of warranty. Last week I turned on the TV and the power blew out. Literally. It made a loud pop noise and turned off. I didn't see smoke because my surge protector/plug is located behind the TV but it smelled like something had burned. I immediately unplugged the TV from the surge protector. Later in the week, I did plug the TV back in but nothing comes on, including the power indicator light.
I called Vizio Support. They put me in touch with the Out of Warranty dept. They put me in touch with their ITI dept. They had me describe the problem. Today, someone called me with a cost estimate for repairs (either someone comes to house to fix or I mail it to them to fix).
Have you heard if anyone else has had this problem?

I have seen this many times. The tv most likely has run its course. It could be the power supply or a lamp. Sounds more like a lamp, as you still have lights on your set. check around and get some prices on a lamp. you can have a local shop install it for you. or just replace the set.
Look at the power supply, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Please post back what you find. I have the same model for my bed room, my power supply blew up beyond repair, had to buy a used one, now the LCD controller board is going bad when it gets hot. Not a very good TV.
Hello bhudson153,
Yes most certainly tv's should last longer than a year. What i would suggest is testing your outlet too see if it is putting out and test the tv in another room to see if thats that problem. If you still are having difficulties please post again.
Please post what you do and how you did it
I look forward to your posts
Sounds like the power supply board blew. You can purchase a new one directly from Vance Baldwin. They are the only parts supplier for Vizio. http://www.vancebaldwin.com/
It's just plug and play. remove the old circuit board and replace with the new one. Not difficult and it should solve your problem for less than $100.
