I have a Calgary Flames Skybox. Suddenly for no apparent reason, thesodas are not cold, and the inside of the fridge is not even cool. Whatshould I check, and how can I troubleshoot before paying $100 for aservice call? W
Sorry but it sounds like the same thing that happened to mine and my diagnosis by the repair guy was that the compressor is bad. The cost of repair? $400! Maytag only covers the compressor for ONE YEAR!

it is possible that your fridge has developed a snag in its cooling system. what could be done from your end will be to first of all switch off the fridge for at least 8 hours. allow it to totally defrost. then switch on to see if the cooling returns. if so reduce the thermostat to 7 degrees and check. if the cooling returns then you will need to check for frosting inside due to failure of the thermostat or the auto defroster. if there is still no cooling then your gas has leaked, failureof the compressor, failue of the valves in the compressor could be suspected. Probe with these inputs. Good day
The SkyBox operates with two individual systems. The dispenser assembly, the LED indicators and the circulating fan operate on a low voltage circuit. The circulating fan runs anytime the SkyBox is plugged in.
The cooling system operates on 120vac. The cold control inside the beverage compartment is an on demand switch that sends 120vac to the compressor when cooling is needed. There are no parts available for the compressor, so if it determined that power is reaching the compressor, the windings are ok, a 3 in1 hard start kit (Supco URCO210) can be installed by a qualified service technician.
Check the compressor to see if it is running. Is it too hot to touch. If so make sure the condensor has proper air circulation to cool it. If the compressor is cool to touch and running. There is a leak in the refrigerant sealed system. The compressor isn`t doing any work because there isn`t any refrigerant in it, therefore will not creat much heat. A humming and clicking sound is typical of an overheated or damaged compressor. If the compressor isn`t running and connot start. It could be a bad start relay on the side of the compressor or a bad compressor. If you can remove the start relay, shake it and listen for a rattle sound. If it rattles, it is bad.If not. then it is time consider the cost of a repairman verses the value of the appliance. Check the cost of repair to the sealed system or maybe even replacing the compressor.I hope I have been of some help to you.
