Press power button than start button and dryer wont turn on
I just had this happen to me, check to see if the light comes on when you open the door. If it does, you have power and can proceed to checking other things.
If the light does not come on, you either do not have power to the dryer or your door switch is defective and in need of replacing, at the very least.
Although there are other possible causes, one of the most common is the thermal fuse, if equipped. This involves taking the back of the machine off, after unplugging the machine, of course. You will see, in many units, the fuse will be attached with one screw to the air passage from the motor and is a white rectangle shape just over an inch long. This can be easily checked with an ohm meter to see if it completes a circuit or not. The reason this is common is due to lint collecting in the air passage, or the vent to the outside being restricted causing a high temperature reading near the motor.
I hope this helps, my unit is the electric Kirkland Costco brand, but is made by Whirlpool. Good luck.
