On your router install cd there was an option to set WEP access. If you can get to this just disable WEP key security feature or type in the address bar the routers url- 000.000.000.0 this will get you to the routers setup utility.

Fofgotten code for network router want to add laptop how do i access code

1.There is no code to access the router but you will need what is called a WEP key or WPA key.
If you have forgotten your key you will have to reset the router to factory default and create another key.
3. Contact your provider to assist you with your initial setup then contact the manufacturer support of the router to walk you through the steps to reset the access key or go to the manufacturers site to get step by step instructions on this issue.

Forgotten password to connect to network

Hi,

In order to check or change your password for NetGear , go to http://192.168.1.1. It will ask you for a user name and password. The default is “admin” and “password”, Once you are connected, go to Wireless Settings and you have the option to change password there.

Hope this helps

Have wireless broadband on home computer with Netgear dont have network key which I need to connect new laptop to wireless broadband Bt of no help and cannot give me a no fo Netgear either even though Bt...

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router .
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then connect 1 computer to the router and open the router set up page. Once you open the router set up page, you will be able to find the wireless network key.
Use that password to connect to the wireless network

Forgot network security key trying to add new laptop to network. can you help with a quick fix

try downloading wireless key viewer on a computer that has the key already in and working. It my be a long key as it is converted into a different format so you may need to copy into word accross a network or on a pen drive and then paste from it into the laptop you have forgotten the key for.

Do i need a disk to install a netgear wireless?

You need a network cable (cat5e) to connect the cable modem to the wan or Internet port on the router. Then another network cable to connect the router port(1-4) to the computer's network (NIC) port. If you are going wireless, you do not need to connect the second cable.
You do not need a disk. just power down the cable modem, router and computer.
Hook it all up, then power up the cable modem first, wait 30 seconds, then power up the router, wait 30 seconds, then power up the computer. You shold be able to get online.
Unless: you are using DSL
and unless the original owner had an encryption key on the router.

Network key

Presuming your are meaning a WEP key (asked as network key in windows), you would find it by entering into your Modem's setup screen, selecting Wireless Settings, Wireless Security, and your key should be listed there

Hope this helps!
