I am trying to upload a home movie (filmed on a camcorder and saved to a DVD) into premier elements 3.0 to enable me to edit the movie and then upload it to a website. Although I can get the original dvd to play correctly through my PC (windows media, Creative, etc)I cannot get Adobe PE to import the files correctly. For example I have a disk with 14 chapters and all 14 can be imported to PE BUT EVERY DVD I try PE seems to ignore my chapters and imports in about 4 sections with me unabel to use the first quarter as it is only a quarter of the screen image is there. (The whole section of movie but zoomed in so only a quarter page is visible), Sorry this is so long but I found it hard to explain! Thanks in advance for all your help. Regards

Hi there
it sounds like a codec problem. you need to check what file type your camera is storing the files onto the disk. right click the disk right click a chapter and select the properties option then make a note of the file type mpeg 2 or mp4 or avi etc. next find out if pe supports that file type (should be in the manual some where) and if it doesn't the codec may be downloadable from adobe support, also make sure the data code function is switched on on your camera as this is how the software sees the chapters (again should be in the camcorder manual) another option is to try pinnacle studio software as its a lot easier to use and i have never had a problem with it. you can pick one up on e bay for about a tenner (version 8 will be good enough)
hope this helps

I just used an old version of system mechanic 6 professional and my computer is running like I just bought it. It is about 4 years old and the only thing is it said that the acer edata security management is not properly installed after fixing everything else. So it said to go online and find the troubleshooting chapter to re-install the acer edata security management software. It is funny though cause I have this little Kodak digital camera that I have had for probably 3 or 4 years and I have downloaded pictures and videos off of it for a few years and then one day I go to download some pics and videos off of it and the computer tells me that it doesn't support that kind of file so I had to download a VLC media player so I could watch and look at the footage from the camera. So how can I re-install the software for this little baby of mine without taking it to someone?

How can I transfer my 8mm tape to my computer? I need to have the film on a flash drive or dvd.

Assuming that you want to do your video work later (editing,DVD burning)in your PC.

1.Your PC must have video capture device(either built-in or add-on).
2.Properly set your video editing software to able to capture video form your device.
3.Connect your camera to your PC in regular manner, like when you connect it to your TV.
4.Have your camera in PLAYBACK mode.wind the tape to the beginning of the footage you want to capture.
5.Open your editing software.turn on capture mode.
6.Start capture. At the same time, start playing back the footage on the cam.
7.When all footage were captured, click stop capture.
8.Start your editing work.
9.when complete, save it to some uncompressed video format like *.avi for later burning to DVD or converting to other format.

For beginners,I recommend Windows Movie Maker video editing software that should come bundled in almost every computer. It's fast, simple but effective enough for home-movie work.Once your project is completed, save your movie in original .avi format for later burning to DVD,etc.

BTW forget the old-school Linear Editing (on the tape) thing. It's slow, complicate and much less flexible than Non-Linear method.

JVC Camcorder GR-D33U

try this steps
  • first install the driver camed with your camcorder to your pc. this should recognize your computer after the installation.
  • use USB cable to connect your camcorder to your pc.
  • as far as i know jvc is using a software name ulead (because i also have a camcorder and its software is ulead)
  • Try to use Ulead Movie producer, Windows Movie maker or any other software that accepts uploading dv video.(i prefer to use ULEAD movie producer or any Ulead products its easy to use)
  • After uploading it from the ULEAD and editing, save it with any various types of videos you like. (in your case save it in DVD format so that it will easy for you to burn it.)
  • Use NERO after searching the save video file and Burn it in DVD type
I hope you understand my procedures and steps on how to transfer it. if you have further questions just contact me. hope that helps!

Software

Imagemixer 3 is a software program for editing and creating DVDs. With an editing program you can edit movies by moving clips, cutting out bad bits, add music and commentaries and titles and make a production you are proud to show off. It takes practise of course but the advantage over film is your original movie is still there unchanged if you make a mistake, and most programs have an 'undo' arrow that lets you go back to fix a mistake. I personally use Adobe Premiere Elements but there are plenty of other programs and they are not very expensive. There are many sites on the Internet that will help you with tuition. Be aware that video takes a lot of hard disk space!

How do I upload my raw-video from my Hitachi BX35A mini DVD-RW camcorder to my pc for editing? I have a Hitachi camcorder bx35a, and I misplaced the accessories when moving. How can I upload the raw video...

Hi
I think I had a similar problem with my new Panasonic DVD camcorder. Even though I had finalised the RAM disc the PC could not read the disc but could see it. I tried drag & drop into a new folder on my PC. I then renamed the video files by changing the ending to .VOB.
I could then open & play these files in Power DVD. Using software downloaded from the internet I converted the VOB files into AVI and could then use PINNACLE to edit them into a holiday movie/DVD. Some software will enable editing/reading of VOB fileswithout converting to AVI but as I am familiar with PINNACLE I just stick with what I know! Bit laborious but it worked for me.
I still prefer my mini dv camcorder - firewire works perfectly & direct into PINNACLE software for editring..
Hope it works for you

Youtube videos

The easiest way is to use a video editing program. Adobe Premiere Elements is a good example - it has a feature to allow you to quickly upload your videos directly to YouTube. You'll be able to make changes to your video before you upload, and also save all the account and quality settings so you don't have to re-enter them every time you want to upload a video.
