Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I am trying to upload a home movie (filmed on a camcorder and saved to a DVD) into premier elements 3.0 to enable me to edit the movie and then upload it to a website. Although I can get the original dvd to play correctly through my PC (windows media, Creative, etc)I cannot get Adobe PE to import the files correctly. For example I have a disk with 14 chapters and all 14 can be imported to PE BUT EVERY DVD I try PE seems to ignore my chapters and imports in about 4 sections with me unabel to use the first quarter as it is only a quarter of the screen image is there. (The whole section of movie but zoomed in so only a quarter page is visible), Sorry this is so long but I found it hard to explain! Thanks in advance for all your help. Regards

Hi there
it sounds like a codec problem. you need to check what file type your camera is storing the files onto the disk. right click the disk right click a chapter and select the properties option then make a note of the file type mpeg 2 or mp4 or avi etc. next find out if pe supports that file type (should be in the manual some where) and if it doesn't the codec may be downloadable from adobe support, also make sure the data code function is switched on on your camera as this is how the software sees the chapters (again should be in the camcorder manual) another option is to try pinnacle studio software as its a lot easier to use and i have never had a problem with it. you can pick one up on e bay for about a tenner (version 8 will be good enough)
hope this helps

I just used an old version of system mechanic 6 professional and my computer is running like I just bought it. It is about 4 years old and the only thing is it said that the acer edata security management is not properly installed after fixing everything else. So it said to go online and find the troubleshooting chapter to re-install the acer edata security management software. It is funny though cause I have this little Kodak digital camera that I have had for probably 3 or 4 years and I have downloaded pictures and videos off of it for a few years and then one day I go to download some pics and videos off of it and the computer tells me that it doesn't support that kind of file so I had to download a VLC media player so I could watch and look at the footage from the camera. So how can I re-install the software for this little baby of mine without taking it to someone?

Best way to share camcorder video to website and blog

More and more people likes shooting video about their life to share, recording clips about their companies, products, services to make promotion and win more attention and customers. In deed, great video is more powerful thousands times than text, picture, word. However, how to make great videos and where to place or share these videos, you could gain the expected result.

First, how to make great video:
1. Choose a camcorder to suit your needs;
The following has listed some camcorders for you, according to your needs, choose the most suitable one:
Mini DV camcorders are cheap, reliable, and widely compatible, shooting standard-definition video;
Mini DVD camcorders can shoot video with lower-quality than Mini DV camcorders and play back video instantly on it or a DVD player. The produced video is more difficult to edit.
AVCHD camcorders have ability to produce high-definition video, with high price and the hard-to-edit shot video.
Flip Video Camcorders are portable, easy-to-use solution for capturing everyday moments that happen anywhere, and sharing them with family and friends everywhere
If It was me, I would choose an AVCHD camcorder or flip video camcorder.

2. Shoot video with your chosen camcorder
Before shooting, you can refer to some basic camcorder shooting tips: http://camcorders.about.com/od/videorecordingtips/a/ShootingTips.htm. Well prepared, you can shoot your video with your camcorder.

3. Perfect your capturing video
After you capture videos, you can perfect them with some video editing software. The best recommended ones are iMovie, FCE and FCP. But if you are unsatisfactory with them and own flip video, there is another great flip video editing software, Doremisoft mac flip converter, which can easily edit your flip video on mac.

Second, Where to place or share these videos
Youtube is the first choice to share home videos for most people. Youtube accepts a wide range of video formats, as following: Windows Media Video (.WMV), .3GP (Cell Phones), .AVI (Windows), .MOV (mac), .MP4 (iPod/PSP), .MPEG, .FLV (Adobe Flash), .SWF (Shockwave Flash), .MKV (h.264). Please check the format before you upload your camcorder video to youtube for share.

Actually, to share products video to make promotion for companies and organizations, alternative method to get more attraction is to embed video into website to add your product videos to your company home page so that it can win more visitors and traffic.

So, how to embed camcorders video to website? If you own AVCHD camcorder, please visit the Guide: Publish video to web from AVCHD to Flash on mac. For Flip video camcorders users, visit Guide: Put flip video to web page from Flip Mino&Mino HD, Flip Ultra&Ultra HD camcorder. Another camcorder users, refer to Embed video in website.

Can't record audio

I have converted home videos on my PC this way. I have a Sony camcorder whose output connects
to my firewire card in the PC. I also use windows Movie maker. While it is recording, I don't hear the audio. After saving the file and playing it back, I hear the audio, along with seeing the movie. Windows movie maker allows me to stop, start, and record the movie. It has complete control over the
Sony camcorder by using the firewire port on the PC.

Publish and save your Windows Movie Maker movie to your computer

As most of you know, I make computer video tutorials and post them to Youtube for everyone to learn about computers. I do not use anything fancy or even expensive, in fact I use the free Camstudio program to record the tutorial and Windows Movie Maker to edit it... Windows movie make comes with most versions of Windows. In this tutorial I will show you how save and publish your windows movie maker production to your computer. This way you can watch it anytime you like, email it to friends, or upload it to Youtube.

What do you need to save a movie to your computer?

* You will need to have Windows Movie Maker on your computer. If you have a normal version of Windows then you will have Windows Movie Maker installed as well, however some versions do not have it. For example Windows Seven Ultimate doesn't have it.
* You will need a finished movie ready to save. You might have used Camstudio or even a video camera to record it.
* You will need storage space to save the movie to. If you save your movie as an .avi then it will take up twice as much space as a movie saved as .wmv. I usually save my movies as a .wmv as Youtube happily takes this format.

How to Publish my movie to save it on my computer?

When using Windows Movie Maker instead of saying save movie, this program uses the term "publish movie". Therefore we will publish the movie to the computer. This will save the finished movie file to play at a later date.

In this tutorial I will presume that you have finished editing your movie and now want to save it onto your computer.

1. In the tasks menu on the left side, when you have your program open, there is a menu. If you do not see this menu, press on File at the top and choose publish from the drop down menu.
2. If you do see the menu, go to the Publish section.
3. Click on "This computer". See the screenshot below.
4. A Publish movie dialog box will appear.
5. Fill in your movie name.
6. Press on browse to choose where to save your movie on your computer. See screenshot below.
7. Then press the next button.
8. The next window will appear.
9. Choose what setting you want your movie to be. If you choose the top choice, Best quality for playback then your movie will be an AVI and will be bigger in size and need more storage space. See below.
10. If you choose the more settings choice, you can choose more options.
11. See below, if you click the drop down arrow you can see the choices.
12. I usually choose "Windows Media DVD Quality (PAL) (3.0 Mbps)"
13. Down below it will show you the exact details of what your movie will be.
14. Now when you are ready you can press on the publish button and the movie will be converted and saved to your computer.
