I think it is a hard disk problem. on screw and set well your hard disk. start the PC. it may be run. if not format and install operating system again.

If you are unable to "F-10" at power up, try 1}. unplug your laptop from AC adapter.
2}. press and hold power button until the computer powers up and powers off.
3} remove battery.
4). press and hold power button 10 seconds then release, replace battery.
5}. power up and press F10
If you are still unable to access BIOS you will need to obtain a system restore disk from HP
My hp Compaq nx6120 can't starts. When I turn on screen the follow messages F10=ROM Based setup i pressed F10 but I can't go into bios. please help me!!
Turn On your PC on start press F10 while the ROM-Based setup massage is displayed on the screen. Change the Enable or Disable the system booting. Enable BOOT ON HARD DRIVE. Save the setup. (any order issue contact me) cheers
in the setup utility, make sure the boot sequence is set to check the cd drive and then the hard drive in that order. hit f10 to save your settings and reboot. if your hd section is grayed out, then the system isn't seeing the hdd and it's probably bad.
Sounds like the hard disk is not able to boot the laptop.
ROM based setup means you need to reset or reconfigure the BIOS.
Assuming the BIOS battery is OK.
This could be because the hard disk itself died, you can remove the disk and attach it to a USB adapter (cheap to purchase) then connect it to another PC. If you can read the disk OK in another PC then you have a motherboard problem.
