Just bought 1995 Lexus from someone who was NOT the original owner, they replaced the battery and the radio stopped working..they took to a mechanic and he said the code needed to be reset. How do I find out the code if I don't know the original place car was purchased? Will any Lexus dealer or Toyota know this code??

Hey i have a is200 when i bought it the previous owner had a double din installed and he took out the factory amp now i want to change it back to factory head unit will it work without the amp, help!

check your fuses fist and always when electrical things stop working ,there should be a fuse location finder in your owners manual,and under the hood you should also have a power distribution box and then one inside on the left side by the drivers left leg or lower dash panel

Battery was disconnected or replaced and activated the anti-theft system within the stereo. Usually the code is in the owners manual, call your lexus dealer if you are unable to locate the code!!

This has happened to me TWICE in the past 4 months. I had Lexus road side service come out both times to check the car out. Each time the battery was totally dead. The road side mechanic said that if the car is not driven at least 15 minutes nonstop a day, the battery runs dead as there are so many draws from the car on the battery. If you do alot of stop and start driving like I do, that isn't enough to recharge the cell of the battery, it must be non stop driving time. Recommend that I get a 1.5 tricky charge device an hook to battery at least one night a week to keep the battery charged. This is really frustrating with such a new car. I've spoken to other owners of other model luxury cars and no one has had this problem.

your local dealer should be able to help you with this,you may have to show proof of ownership. if you bought the car new and never changed the code the default code may be in the owners manual.thanks for useing fixya hope this helps you Ray

You'll have to go to the dealer to have them do it. They can pull your radio and read the serial number to get info from computer on which codes work for your radio. For giggles, check inside your owners manual case for a card that has it on it. There were two cards supplied to the original owners when bought new. Most people just put the cards in there.

YOU WILL NEED THE RADIO CODE.. If you dont have the code you may call the dealer with your vin number, or the radio serial number. it may be in the owners manual, sometimes I write them on the owners manual in case the card gets lost, may look like a credit card.

Check the your owners manual, if your lucky the original owner wrote it down when they bought the care. If not you will need to get the code from the dealer. You might even need to take the car to the dealer to have the radio unlocked. Some auto manufacturers have designed their radios to require a code whenever the battery is disconnected, in order to make the stereos worthless to theives, and thereby discourage theft. Ususally it just creates headaches for the owner of the vehicle.

You'll have to pull the radio out and get the serial numbers off of it. You can then call a GM dealer (since they bought out Geo) and see if they can get you the unlock code for the radio.
