Sony ICF-CD7000 played a cd just fine. I immediately took it out, put in a new one, and the cd player suddenly doesn't work, just makes vibrating noise.

I've been able to prolong the life on mine by doing this:

Insert the disc, then spin it by hand and quickly close the door and hit play.

It's always worth using a laser cleaner first, as it may just be dirty and stops spinning because it cannot read the disc.

Belt either came off or is slipping. You can open the system up and view it yourself, just make sure the stereo is unplugged.

SOURCE: Buttons not working on Sony icf-cd7000

Hello
Unplug the unit and replug it after 5 minutes or so. Then Hold Down the CLOCK/DATE until a short beep sounds. If this beep sound cannot be heard, be sure that the internal circuit has some trouble, and has to be repaired. Normally, any other button get strucked, there will be no response with other buttons. OK.

Sony ICF-DS11iP doesn't play my Ipod touch. Radio, Alarm, Ipod Charging functions work. Pls suggest a solution

Please check the iPod connector on the Sony. If you can wiggle it, it is probably a bad connection. These models Sony radios have the connector directly soldered on a PCB and it tends to get loose after a while due to connecting/disconnecting the iPod. If it is loose, the connector needs to be resoldered back into place.

I have had the following circumstances when there was a bad connection:
- iPod will not be charged
- iPod can not play music through the Sony
- iPod will play music through the Sony, but an iPhone won't

It's most likely dirty, though it could be failing. The lasers have an average life span of 3 years, under normal use.

Several companies make CD/DVD laser lens cleaners. You want the kind with optical quality brushes on the bottom side. You simply put it in, let is spin up and play, then take it out. It may not play the first couple times you put it in, but it will be cleaning the lens and pickups.

If that doesn't do it, I'd start looking at sales for a new player.

If the speakers vibrate especially when the mega bass is on, does that mean that the speakers are blown on my icf-cdk50?

Real low bass is mostly vibration. Anything that has a "mega bass" 'enancement' is cutting corners to make up for bass-reproduction shortcomings. Speakers measuring 2-5/8' have no business reproducing real bass. Blown speakers would be silent. Torn cones from excessive volume might sound like unwanted vibration. Your vibration might be a resonance of the unit's own housing, mounting hardware or something nearby. Try moving it to another location.

These units are not economically repairable. If you like it and you think it's broken you might snag a whole new on on eBay with wise bidding.

Sony ICF-CDK50 (under counter kitchen clock radio) just installed, everything works fine except for sporadic intermittent beeping (3 to 5 beeps). Instructions give no clue as to cause or solution.

sorry, I can't shed much light on this problem, but it appears to have been fixed. We played around with setting the time, although it didn't need fixing and with the timer.

No output when I play a CD

what kind of vehicle do you have? i am going to guess your vehicle has a stock amp that it uses to power your speakers? you will have to hook up the remote wire for the amp to the wire that powers the amp in your vehicle (the stock amp) right now it seems like you have the "power antenna" wire hooked up to the stock amp in your vehicle.
