replace the spark plug, make sure the air filter is clean, make sure it has fresh fuel. if it still wont start. give a shot of carburetor cleaner straight in the carburetor it should start and run for a few seconds. if it does. the carburetor needs to be cleaned. hope this fixes your problem, good luck
Start by relacing the fuel in the tank with fresh, check for a spark at the plug, if there is no spark try a new plug, still no spark replace the ignition unit.
The primer will not flood it, all the primer does on these saws is pushes fuel through the carb. If this is a new saw, it needs a carb adjustment, a very common problem on poulan products these days. It's covered by the warranty at any of their service dealers (you can locate one on poulan's website).
How old is the gas you are using? If the mixture is more than 30 days old, make a new mix and try again.
Check for spark. Pull the boot off of the plug. Hold the boot near something metal and pull the starter. If you see a spark, you are good. If you don't, you may have a problem with the coil.
you need to find out if there is spark at the plugs
pull the plug put the wire back on hold it away from the engine then crank it over, you should see a nice blue spark arking from plug the engine body
If not then you need the start checking pug , wire , coil, or magneto wich ever your machine has
Do a basic test first, remove the top cover, pull the earth cut out wire from the terminal on the ignition unit ( this will iliminate any problems with the switch, or wires ) now try for a spark, remember that they work off speed of rotation so give it a good pull, make sure you use a good clean plug, well earthed against the cylinder. If there is still no spark, you will need to replace the unit, part no. 530039143
Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:
Youwill need to disassemble the carburetor and spray withcarb.cleaner.Make sure the small screen is free of debris. (Should beable to see daylight through it.)
start saw when cold and work it hard. if it stalls or quits remove spark plug and hook the plug wire to the plug and ground to the cyl head have switch on and pull the start rop briskly a few times or use a test plug. if there is no spark disconnect ign switch from from the ign wires and pull rope a few more times.spark?= replace ign switch,no spark until engine is cool, replace coil.
