I have 2 seperate Achiever AC-seer 10 units installed 6 yrs ago. One cools downstairs, the other upstairs. I have never used them before. They have been exposed to heavy snowstorms over the years in...

No Freon doesnt evaporate the only way you have to charge an A/C unit is if it has a leak somewhere in the system. It sounds like your compressor is locked up I would try installing a super boost to the Condenser (outside unit). Let me know

I am looking for a Compressor for a Ruud Achiever 10 Seer 1.5 Tons. Does anyone know where I can purchase one? Thank you!

Hello, you should be able to purchase that compressor at any heating and cooling store in your area. As long as you have the model and serial number they will be able to help you out.

I have a Ruud 10 seer achiever air unit that does not blow cold air. The pipe is not cold and the fan does kick on, but the compressor does not.

Check the capacitor. You will need to remove a wire from it and check it with a multimeter with the capacitor check function. If it looks swollen it's probably bad. If it's the 3 terminal type that works for the fan and compressor just 1 side can be bad.

My Ruud Achiever 90 Plus not blowing cooled air

Look on the condensor, (outdoor unit) at the very bottom of the rear panel and you should find a red reset button. push it. If that does not solve the problem, and the outdoor unit is running (make sure both the fan AND the compressor are running) then you are looking at a low refridgerant issue and possibly dirty coils.

In that case, clean the coils and have refridgerant added.

Ruud achiever 10 seer air conditioner

It sounds like your condenser fan motor may be locked up or the capacitor that helps give the condenser fan motor a kick to get it started may be defective. Try turning your system on and using a long screwdriver try to push the fan blade on the condenser fan motor to see if it will run normally if you give it the starting boost it needs. If it does run at full speed and doesn't over heat or start and then slow down then you probably only need to replace a simple 10-12$ capacitor. If it barely turns, makes an odd humming sound or overheats etc. then you will have to replace the condenser fan motor. This is assuming that the outdoor condenser has the 220v supplied and the 24v supplied to the compressor relay, that the compressor relay is engaged and suppling 220v to the condenser fan motor.
