How to use F1, F2 ?..Function buttons on Acer laptop.

For those who do not know how to use the F1, F2, F3..... buttons on Acer laptops, here is an opportunity for you to know.

We see these buttons on most laptops but don't know what they are used for. F1, F2....... buttons are the first set of buttons on the keyboard. These buttons makes it easy for anyone to access some programs on the computer without using mouse.

Follow the below procedures on how to use some of these functions

>To put your Acer laptop on stand-by or to view shut down options, Press and hold Fn button on your keyboard, (without leaving it) then press F4 (Fn + F4).

>To make your Acer laptop be on sleep mode, Press and hold, Fn button, then press F6 (Fn + F6).

>To lock your Acer laptop's Touchpad, press and hold Fn button, then press F7 (Fn + F7).

>To put your Acer laptop on mute Press and hold Fn button, then press F8 (Fn + F8).

>To shut down your laptop or to view other shut down options, Press and hold Alt button, then press F4 (Alt + F4). Note that this particular function can be used on all computers and laptops.

>To close any page on your Acer laptop, Press and hold Alt button, then press F4 (Alt + F4). Note that this particular function can be used on all computers and laptops.

  • Turn on the computer by holding down the power button while pressing the ESC key



    • The machine will beep, then display:




    • Check System, then press [F1] key.





  • Release the ESC key


  • Press the F1 key

how can I change the first boot device on acer aspire 5100

when you switch on the system hold down f1, f2 f3 button at once will take you to setup where you can change your booting sequence.
