Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Get rid of ur virus and trojens...

If u have been using ur machine for many years and have virus and trojen in it and it's working slow....
do this
take a full back up of ur data on to a DVD/Zip Drive/Pen drive/USB HD etc.
also go to ur My Computer and note using pencil/paper the C: drive size (the Total Size, Used space, and Free space)
Download killdisk from my website...link is below...
copy it on to a CD...also create a boot disk....ensure ur computer can boot from the boot disk...check boot seq in BIOS....if u cannot boot from CD.....
boot from the boot disk....once u get the A: or D: replace the boot CD with the CD that has the Killdisk utility...
Run the killdisk utility.....type "killdisk" in the D: or A: prompt...
when killdisk loads.....note very carefuly....which is ur C: drive (check from the paper that u noted earlier the details about the C drive)
use the killdisk utility(F10) and wipe the drive...all sectors will become 000000......once the progrma is finished....this will wipe ur disk clean and get back to factory settings....all ur virus/trojens and all corrupt data will be gone....it will say that the free version will do only ONE PASS....one pass is enough....u can always repeat the process again if u want more than 1 Pass....then u can format the HD and load Windows fresh and load all ur programs....the killdisk program takes aprox 1 hr to complete for a 20GB disk....so if u have 200 GB in C: it will take aprox 10hrs to finish.....so be cool and sleep...dont intrupt the process....it will finish...be quite and patience....

Had a virus and loaded Norton 360. Got rid of the virus but the system just hangs at times. Initially had a dll problem but that went away. I know the system is old but I have a lot of work on it. Do I need more RAM and if so where is a good place to purchase it and how do I install it I have run registry fix from Norton, run virus scans, did defrag etc Larry

if the system is old then u may need to wipe ur disk clean and install OS again....
bakup all data and let me know...if u want to get ur machine factory fit and as good as new....revert back...i have a foolproff solution...and u will be happy for it....u dont need any hardware change....just need to wipe ur disk clean...i.e. make all sectors and tracks in the DISK back to 00000 as it was when it was mfd.... Norton will not remove all malwares/trojens/virus....believe me...
regards....
PS - what OS are u using ??

computer does not stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time.

the main reasons for this could be a few;
1 the telephone line is unstable
2 the router / modem is not working perfectly
3 problem with the power adaptor of the modem
4 check with ISP of connectivity issues
5 last.... there could be virus / trojen in ur machine

emachine running SLOW and Freezes - 1 year old

Here are some suggestions: First of all . Do you have an anti virus installed on your husband's machine ? Viruses can slow the machine and even kill it permanently ( so be careful) . Just install an anti virus and you'll solve the problem . If you are already have an anti virus , then just run a full system scan and watch what will happen and follow the recommended steps that will be given by the anti virus [ There are a lot of anti virus softwares in the market ] but if you suspect that your system is already infected i recommend you to use (Avast professional edition) because it can make a boot scan , that means after you install it , it will ask you if you want to make a boot scan , just agree with it and it will reboot the system and start a boot time scanning , meanwhile you should watch it and give it the right orders if it detected a virus infection . Here is another suggestion : There is a certain software you could install it . This software can help your machine and detect any problem on your husband's computer but viruses . this software is called (TuneUp utilities) . You can download it from here www.tune-up.com . just try it and you'll be satisfied with result . if that didn't help just contact me again and i'll help you as possible as i can .
good luck .

My Dell Inspiron will not start up all the way. When I turn it on desktop comes up after about 10 minutes and then everything freezes. Its slow as hell to start up and most times it will even freeze up before windows fully comes up. Help! Right now there's no virus protection on it. I was in the middle of trying to download it, realized I was doing it wrong and then this happened. I've been trying to get in for about 2 days but nothing works. I keep holding down the botton to turn it off and start over again only to have it freeze up again.

ur boot files are being corrupted either there is a trojen or a virus that's preventing the Win from working.
do this...when u switch on the machine press F8 function key and try to load in Safe Mode. if u can do that then get Tuneup Utility from my website (download page) www.sureshayyar.110mb.com
install and run the cleanup process...1n click maint in that does a good job...use all the toos in that and get ur machine to working....
else u need to boot from a Win CD try do a repair of ur OS....
else let me know...we go to plan B

my pendrive is not working properly whenever i double click on it , it shows u want to format it but when i click yes it is not getting formatted

may be ur pendrive is corrupted...with virus/trojen
try conencting it on another machine...and do a virus scan...pendrives are like floppy drives...they catch the flu of virus/trojen very frequently...unlike CDs...
