How to set a password on my router

Open a web browser and type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. A log in window will pop up. Routers usually have a default user name of admin. try that without a password to see if that gets you into the router settings. If not try admin as both user name and password or simply leave both blank if all else fails. When you are in the settings of the router you can then find where to set a password.
Hope this helps!

I cannot access my wep

The WEP key is an encryption key that secures your wireless router from unauthorized access. WEP is an old encryption method for a later and stronger encryption use WPA or better still WPA2.

Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on yourcomputer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

I keep getting the error

Reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. I have provided a list of the most popular router brands. If it does not work you may need to google what your specific model's default IP address/default username/default passwords are, for example search for "Encore ENHWI-2AN3 default IP address" The default login info can change, it can depend on where you obtained your router. If you purchased it yourself from a store then the standard defaults should work. If you obtained your router from your Internet Provider you may need to contact your service provider. It also may depend whether it's an old or new model router as well. And you may need to press and hold the reset button on your router several times before it actually clears. Make sure you have a wired connection then once you have accessed your router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be something like your phone number for example 3109876543

You need to reset the Wireless Router to change theuser id and the password. The factory default reset button (red) is on the back side. Before reset connect your work station or laptop to the router. Press the reset button for few seconds, it should reset the unit. To access the router through the laptop/workstation, open the IE put this IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of IE. You will see the window pop up for user and password, Leave the user fileld blank and in the password filed put "admin" . After this you can change all the setting.

WARNING: when you reset your router all the connection detail will be set to default, you need to have this information or call your service provider to help out.

Need the security key password for wireless

The default username and password are as follows:

username: (leave blank)
password: admin

If that doesn't work, you can factory restore the router by doing the following:

1. Unplug the router
2. Hold in the reset button for 30 seconds
3. Plug the router back in and continue holding in the reset button for another 30 seconds

Note that this will reset all of your router's settings to default and you will lose any of the stored settings you have, but it will reset the password to the default I listed above. Hope this helps!

I have a linksys WRT5G2

I'm sure the router still works fine. You probably just need a driver for your wireless adapter.

Open up your device manager. If you don't know how to do this..it's laid out here:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/device-manager-cp-windows-7.htm

Look under "Network Adapters" and see if there are any yellow exclamation points next to anything. If there is, you probably need a driver for that adapter. You will need to provide the make/model of the computer if you can not locate and install the driver yourself.

If there are no problems with the drivers..you may need to reconfigure your wireless network settings.

This site gives you a good rundown of how to do that.

Forgotten password

The Linksys default password is admin., exactly as you see it in bold. Also, there are two ways to reset the Router's factory defaults. Either press and hold the Reset Button for approximately five seconds, or restore the defaults from Administration > Factory Defaults in the Router's web-based utility.
